Hmar Inpui GHQ Rejects Peace Talks, Vows to Continue Fight for Rights and Separation from Manipur. Dissolves Jiribam Region and Affiliated Organizations.

Hmar Inpui, General Headquarter, is shocked to learn about the peace initiative that was held on August 1, 2024 at CRPF Group Centre, Dayapur, Cachar Assam. The first such initiative was held in Silchar on July 1, 2024. Hmar Inpui General Headquarter in its July 3, 2024 Press Release condemned the engaging actors and negate the efforts that took place without our prior, informed consent.

However, disrespecting the resolution of Hmar Inpui; members of Hmar Inpui/Jiribam Region, Hmar National Union (HNU) and several individuals continue to bow to the whims and fancies of a divisive and communal government under the leadership of Mr. Biren Singh.

Hmar Inpui in its resolution, Dated August 2, 2024, hereby declare the initiatives of August 1, 2024 between the representatives of Meetei and Hmar of Jiribam District as null and void. Accordingly, Hmar Inpui in its resolution of August 2, 2024, DISSOLVED Hmar Inpui, Jiribam Region and all its affiliated organizations (HYA, HSA, HNU, HWA) under Jiribam jurisdiction. Hmar Inpui also warned individuals who participated in the event to stop their blind and selfish efforts. They shall not represent Hmar in any manner, anywhere, anytime. If any Hmar bearing organization or individual wish to continue their efforts, they shall do so at their own risk.

Hmar people, as minority, in Jiribam (Manipur) have been suffering incessantly at the hands of a communally majoritarian government who are endowed with every power to grab our land and negate us from continuing our Hill House Tax payment. In doing so, it severely alienated us from our land, history and our customary rights. The birth of Jiribam district from a sub-division of Imphal East to a full-fledged district proves the silenced suffering of the Hmar people.

Hmar Inpui is resolute in its stand to unite and strengthen the collective interests and movement for total separation of the Zohnathlak peoples from Manipur for all time to come. We shall not bow to fulfil the narrow and selfish communal interest of Mr. Biren Singh led government to divide the cause of our people, who, otherwise, have been suffering decades of majoritarian communal politics in Manipur. Hmar will not be a bait in the divisive politics that Mr. Biren Singh and his party is devising.

Any peace initiative ought to bear the approval and prior, informed consent of Hmar Inpui, General Headquarters. We shall never be a partner to a divisive coterie that design pieces and morsel of elusive peace that is thwarted to divide the great cause that we are collectively fighting for. Hmar Inpui stands for just peace that will empower the rights of Zohnathlak peoples who are recognized as Scheduled Tribes in the Constitution of India. Hmar Inpui firmly believes that any peace effort ought to have a firm foundation in respect and dignity of every human being. Hmar Inpui stand resolute against the divisive communal game of Mr. Biren Singh led government. Hmar Inpui believes in just peace.
