04 Oct 2025 (Sat): A female cadre of the banned militant outfit NSCN (IM) surrendered before the Assam Rifles at Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh's Tirap district on Friday.
The self-styled corporal, identified as *Shikngam Wangpan, laid down arms before security personnel and was subsequently handed over to the local police to initiate her rehabilitation process back into the mainstream.
"This surrender is the result of sustained and patient efforts by our troops who maintained continuous engagement with the individual over several months. Through consistent counselling and moral support, we helped her understand the futility of violence," said an Assam Rifles official.
