Imphal, August 14, 2026: The Education (S) Department of the Manipur Government has clarified that candidates holding an 18-month Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) obtained through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are not eligible for recruitment to the post of Special Primary Teacher. UNC Declares 24-Hour Shutdown Across Naga Areas

Imphal, August 14, 2026: The United Naga Council (UNC) has declared an Emergency Total Shutdown across all Naga districts and Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur from 11:00 PM on August 14 to 11:00 PM on August 15, 2026, following what it described as a “barbaric and calculated attack” allegedly carried out by KNF-P Kuki militants on the occasion of Naga Independence Day.
