Imphal, August 14, 2026: The Education (S) Department of the Manipur Government has clarified that candidates holding an 18-month Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) obtained through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) are not eligible for recruitment to the post of Special Primary Teacher. Imphal, August 14, 2026: The United Naga Council (UNC) has declared an Emergency Total Shutdown across all Naga districts and Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur from 11:00 PM on August 14 to 11:00 PM on August 15, 2026, following what it described as a “barbaric and calculated attack” allegedly carried out by KNF-P Kuki militants on the occasion of Naga Independence Day.
