Juvenile UKNA Cadre Held in Churachandpur

Lamka, June 20, 2026: Security forces arrested a juvenile active cadre of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a non-Suspension of Operations (SoO) group, from the general area of Songpi village under Churachandpur Police Station on June 19, 2026.

The arrest was made during a security operation conducted in the area. Further details regarding the juvenile's role in the outfit and subsequent legal proceedings were not immediately available.

Mao Council Condemns Killing of Six Naga Villagers

Senapati, June 20, 2026: The Mao Council has expressed profound grief and condemned the killing of six Naga men from Kongsakhul/Konsaram village whose bodies were recently discovered after they were allegedly abducted more than a month ago.

In a solidarity message issued on June 19, Mao Council President N. Athikho Joseph recalled that the six villagers were abducted from Leinlon Vaphei village on May 13, 2026. After nearly a month of intensive search efforts and anxious waiting, their bodies were reportedly found in a mutilated and unrecognizable condition.

Describing the incident as a tragedy that has deeply shaken the collective conscience of the Naga community, the council strongly condemned what it termed a barbaric and inhumane act with no place in a civilized society.

The Mao Council extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Kongsakhul village. It also expressed unwavering solidarity with those affected by the loss, stating that the entire community shares in their grief and stands united in honoring the memory of the deceased.

The council further called for a renewed commitment to justice, peace, and the dignity of every human life. It said the memory of the departed should strengthen the resolve of the people to stand together against violence and uphold the values of humanity and compassion.

Praying for the departed souls, the council appealed for strength, comfort, and solace for the families and loved ones of the victims.

The solidarity message was issued by N. Athikho Joseph, President of the Mao Council, in remembrance of the six deceased Naga villagers and in support of their grieving families and community.
