Pu Biren Singh: Honoured by Prayer, Haunted by Blood

On 23rd December 2019, a solemn and dignified Blessing Prayer for Pu N. Biren Singh, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, was held at Motbung Inpi Leituol, led by Kuki pastors. In that sacred moment, the Chief Minister was honoured and lifted up in prayer, entrusted to God's guidance and care.

But as time unfolded, the promises and hope surrounding that day began to unravel.

What seemed like an innocent, well-meaning leader soon revealed a deeply disturbing turn. In 2023, under Pu Biren Singh’s watch, Manipur was plunged into chaos. The once-peaceful hills and valleys turned into grounds of violence and despair. Blood was shed. Homes were reduced to ashes. Sacred places were desecrated. Countless lives—especially those from the Kuki community—were devastated and displaced, and many remain homeless to this day.

Ironically, Pu Biren Singh was once a journalist and a footballer—professions that preach truth, fairness, discipline, and integrity. Yet, none of these values were visible on 3rd May 2023, the day the violence erupted. On that tragic day, he chose silence. Not a single command, not a single move to deploy security forces to prevent or control the situation. His silence was deafening—and deadly.

Instead of dousing the flames, it appeared he allowed fuel to be added to the fire. The burning of Manipur continues till today—both literally and in the hearts of those who have suffered.

The pastors, in good faith, had once blessed him—calling upon God's favour to be upon him. The pastors praying for Pu Biren was not their fault, but a genuine act of faithful servants of God—done in sincerity and hope for righteous leadership

But who can say now whether the judgement of God is slowly taking its course? Can divine blessings be mocked? God, who once allowed honour to be bestowed, may now allow justice and reckoning to fall.

For indeed, pastors' prayers are not empty rituals—they are sacred and powerful. Pu Biren Singh must, by now, reflect on this. If not, the wrath and vengeance of God, long-suffering but just, may one day fall upon his head.

Let us wait and see: will this Chief Minister, who turned a blind eye to his Kuki's pain, ever seek pardon? Or will he continue his path as if blameless, unmoved, untouched?

The blood spilled during this crisis cannot be washed away by any water on this earth. Only the blood of the Kuki people—innocently shed—stands as a lasting cry for justice.

In the end, God who once allowed a blessing may also permit a curse. And divine justice will not be delayed forever.
