For the Thangkhal Christians today, Kulhvum is regarded as a sacred prayer hill. In earlier times, it was known mainly as a hunting ground for the Thangkhal people living in the Mulam Hills. During those days, many in the community were unfamiliar with the Gospel and followed Lawki, their traditional belief system. Hunting, jhum cultivation, growing vegetables, herding cattle, and joyful community gatherings were a normal part of daily life.
Over the years, great spiritual change took place, and today the entire Thangkhal community has embraced Christianity. Because of this transformation, the people now climb Kulhvum every year for fasting and prayer, turning a former hunting ground into a place of faith and worship.
This year, on 14 February 2026, the prayer gathering was organised by the Central Youth Department of Thangkhal Baptist Church (ABA). Many believers participated with deep devotion, spending time in prayer and fellowship.
Those who attended shared that the gathering brought them peace and renewal. They returned feeling refreshed — mentally, physically, and spiritually — as they continued to strengthen their faith together as one community.
