Imphal, May 22, 2026: A high-level meeting was held on Friday to discuss security arrangements for the cultivation of Kharif paddy crops in the fringe areas of Bishnupur district and Churachandpur district amid the prevailing law and order situation in the state.
The meeting, chaired by Ningshen Worngam, Inspector General of Police (Zone-II), was convened at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat (DC Office), Bishnupur.
Discussions focused on providing adequate security coverage for farmers during the 2026 Kharif cultivation season in sensitive fringe areas of the two districts. Officials also reviewed security arrangements and measures related to the resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The meeting was attended by Pooja Elangbam, Dharun Kumar S., senior police officials, commanders of security forces and officers from both districts.
During the discussion, the Superintendents of Police of Bishnupur and Churachandpur highlighted areas where security deployment may be required to ensure smooth cultivation activities. Officials also stressed the importance of maintaining peace and confidence among local residents.
Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur informed the meeting that special emphasis is being given to the resettlement of IDPs affected by the ongoing unrest.
After interacting with the officials, Shri Ningshen Worngam stressed the need for close coordination between the administrations of Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts to effectively handle security concerns in view of the prevailing situation.
