JOINT OPERATIONS RESULTS IN RECOVERY OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION IN MANIPUR
PRESS RELEASE: 02 MAY 2024: Acting on specific intelligence of presence of arms and ammunition in general area Zalenkot Village, Churachandpur, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a joint operation on 30 April 2024 and recovered a total of nine weapons, to include, one 9mm Carbine Machine Gun, Four 12 mm Single Barrel Rifles, One 40 mm Grenade Launcher, Two Improvised Heavy Mortars, One 9mm Pistol, ammunition and war like stores. The recovered items have been handed over to Police.

PRESS NOTE
The Indigenous Tribes Advocacy Committee (ITAC) vehemently condemns the cowardly act of burning down two tribal houses at Uchathol, Jiribam District, by suspected Meitei miscreants. This reprehensible act occurred between 12:30 to 1:00 AM on May 2, 2024, with the perpetrators heard conversing in Meitei dialect.
This despicable incident serves as yet another stark reminder of the ongoing persecution faced by the Hmar-Kuki-Zomi indigenous tribals in Manipur. Since May 3, 2023, our communities have endured countless attacks, with Uchathol being the latest victim.
The burning of two houses at Uchathol further exemplifies the urgent need for separate administration to ensure the safety and security of our indigenous communities. No part of Manipur is safe for Hmar-Kuki-Zomi tribals under Meitei dominance.
We urge the authorities concerned to address our issues without further delay.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. During the search operations the following items were recovered:

05 (five) nos. of 9 mm Pistol magazines and
500 (five hundred) nos. of ammunition from Mantripukhri Bazar, Imphal East District on 29.04.2024.

On 29.04.2024, Security Force arrested 01(one) cadre of KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) namely Wangkhem Premjit @ Kamcha Singh (44 yrs) of Luker Mayai Leikai, Imphal West District from Khongjom, Thoubal District and seized one 9 mm Pistol along with 03(three) rds from his possession. He was involved in extorting money from general public in and around Khongjom.
