Kachin Remembers 69 Killed in 2022 Anant Airstrike on Third Anniversary
THREE years have passed since the tragic airstrike in the Anantpa area of Phakant Region, Kachin State, where 69 people were killed in one of the deadliest attacks by the Myanmar military. The incident, which occurred on the night of October 23, 2022, remains a painful memory for survivors and the Kachin community.
According local sources, the military junta carried out airstrikes that struck a local gathering, killing civilians, artists, and members of the Kachin Independence Organisation (KIO). The attack has since been remembered as one of the most brutal massacres following the military coup.
A Kachin artist expressed his sorrow during the anniversary, saying, “In that tragedy, we lost three artists dear to us, including Aura Lee and Zaw Moon (King). Each time I see their artworks, it feels as though the incident happened only yesterday. They died while doing what they loved.”
The Anant massacre stands as a grim reminder of the ongoing violence in Myanmar’s ethnic regions, where civilians continue to bear the brunt of military airstrikes and conflict.

THE ZRA–ZOMI COUNCIL LEGACY: LIES, LOSERS & THE AGENDA OF TRAITORS
The recently circulated article titled "The ZRA–Zomi Council Legacy" is nothing short of a malicious smear campaign of a carefully packaged bundle of half-truths and fiction, written by frustrated individuals who have long lost their moral compass and their Zomi identity.
This so-called "analysis" is the brainchild of Calvin Aikhenthang and his clique, men who abandoned their principles the moment they took refuge under the Kuki industrial-political machine at Tuibuang, Lamka.
*Their intention is transparent:* to defame the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), the Zomi Reunification Organisation (ZRO), and the entire Zomi nation by twisting facts, fabricating events, and mocking genuine leadership. But truth doesn't bow to propaganda and "this rebuttal will set the record straight, without mercy.*
The claim that the ZRA is an organization built on "militarized ambition" and "authoritarian control" is not only laughable but insulting to every Zomi who has ever stood up to defend our land, people, and dignity.
The ZRA was never born from greed or ego; it was born from necessity from decades of marginalization and the constant threat of absorption by external interests. While others knelt and negotiated away their pride for positions, the ZRA stood firm, unbending and unashamed, to protect the Zomi homeland.
To label such courage as "authoritarianism" reveals more about the author's cowardice than the ZRA's intent. Defense is not dictatorship; it is survival and survival is a right the Zomi will never apologize for.
Equally false and absurd is the claim that ZRA "entered Chin State to assist CNDF and were captured by Chinland Council troops."
This is pure fiction spun by armchair propagandists hiding behind keyboards. The Chinland Council never captured anyone and the story exists only in the fertile imagination of those desperate to make ZRA appear reckless.
The truth is simple: ZRA's actions have always been defensive, principled, and grounded in Zo brotherhood. The organization has consistently worked for peace and cooperation, not conflict. If ZRA's presence in certain regions causes fear, it is because truth itself is intimidating to those who built their existence on deception.
The accusation that ZRA's peace initiatives were "performative" exposes the author's deep ignorance. The ZoRO-mediated reconciliation between ZRA and CNA in 2024 was not a publicity stunt, it was a genuine act of maturity, a rare moment of unity in a fractured political landscape.
The claim that ZRA violated that covenant is nothing but a deliberate lie meant to destroy trust between Zo organizations. The truth is that ZRA has consistently honored its word and sought reconciliation even when others thrived on division. Those who accuse ZRA of performative peace are the same people who perform loyalty to whoever funds their next meal.
The author's narrative on the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) and Zo United (ZU) is yet another deliberate distortion.
ZRA and ZRO never opposed Zo unity, they opposed manipulation. When platforms like ITLF and ZU began to serve Kuki-centered agendas rather than genuine Zo representation, the Zomi leadership had every right to resist.
Refusing to become a puppet under Kuki domination is not obstruction, it is honor. The Zomi Council's decision to safeguard Zomi interests was not an act of ego but of responsibility. Those who call that "monopoly" clearly misunderstand what leadership means; it means standing firm even when others sell out.
Perhaps the most pathetic part of the so-called article is the personal attack on respected Zomi figures such as *Mang Taithul and RL Haokip.* Resorting to name-calling and character assassination is the last refuge of those who have no argument left.
These failed analysts think that by mocking personalities, they can erase their contributions, but truth doesn't vanish because a traitor laughs. Leadership is not measured by public approval; it is measured by courage in times of isolation.
And Zomi leaders have always stood tall when it mattered most, while the likes of Calvin Aikhenthang have always fled to safer ground when real struggles began.
The ZRA's legacy is not one of disruption but of defense, discipline, and dignity. It is the backbone of Zomi resistance of the wall that never fell even when storms of betrayal swept across our land.
For decades, ZRA has guarded Zomi territories, defended helpless civilians, and preserved the integrity of the Zo identity when others traded it away for temporary comfort.
The author of the article talks of "unity" while serving under Kuki masters; he speaks of "brotherhood" while attacking his own blood. His hypocrisy is not shocking, it's expected from those who abandoned their roots long ago.
To the traitors hiding in Tuibuang and Kangpokpi and writing propaganda for the Kuki industry, hear this clearly:* you can twist words, invent stories, and fabricate timelines, but you cannot rewrite Zomi history.
The ZRA and ZRO don't need your recognition. They have earned their legitimacy through sacrifice, through defense of our people, and through unwavering loyalty to the Zo cause. Your words will rot in the shadows, but the legacy of ZRA will remain engraved in the history of the hills unbreakable, unstoppable, unforgettable.
When history is written, it will not remember your cheap headlines or your cowardly distortions. It will remember who fought when others hid, who stood when others sold out, and who defended the Zomi nation when others tried to destroy it from within.
You, the self-proclaimed "Analytical Zomi," have become nothing more than the echo of your own failure. The ZRA stands as the living proof that truth, once armed, never dies.
The time will come when the smoke clears and truth reclaims its throne. And on that day, it will be recorded for all to see that when traitors conspired in whispers, the Zomi stood unbroken; that when lies filled the air, ZRA stood as the last fortress of truth.
You can lie today, but history will still write: ZRA was the shield, ZRO was the soul, and the Zomi never bowed.

Puta-O–Myitkyina Road Closed Indefinitely by Military in Kachin State
The military has indefinitely closed the Puta-O–Myitkyina road in Kachin State from this morning, citing military reasons.
According to a driver on the route, the military council's troops suddenly blocked the road section between Lamon Zup village and Naungnan village in Myitkyina Township. The Puta-O–Myitkyina road serves as the only trade route for the entire Puta-O region.
As a result of the closure, all vehicles travelling from Myitkyina to Puta-O earlier today were forced to turn back at the Tanpharae Gate on the outskirts of Myitkyina.

GNF Condemns Drone Strike on Khammoi Village; Urges Global Investigation
KOHIMA, 22 Oct 2025: The Global Naga Forum (GNF) has strongly condemned what it described as a “cowardly and inhumane” drone strike carried out by the Indian Armed Forces on the Naga village of Khammoi (Khenmoi-Loiyi) under East Konyak Region on 20 October 2025, around 6:30 p.m. (IST).
According to the GNF statement, the attack claimed two innocent lives — seven-year-old Eli Phiphot Wangsa, a Grade-1 student of Khammoi Mission School, and Eno Khampei Wangsa, 27, Joint Secretary of the Khammoi Students’ Union. Several others, including women, children, and elderly villagers, were reportedly injured.
The Forum termed the assault a gross violation of human rights and international humanitarian law, alleging that it marked the second drone strike on a Naga village this year — suggesting a deliberate targeting of civilians beyond the international boundary.
GNF noted that the strike did not occur deep inside Myanmar, but on “ancestral Naga land,” long before borders were drawn. It criticised the “deafening silence” of the Myanmar government, stating that its lack of response exposes the discriminatory treatment of Naga lives.
The organisation recalled a similar cross-border attack by the Indian Army on 27 September 2017 and expressed concern over what it called a “pattern of impunity.”
Calling for global intervention, GNF urged:
-
The United Nations and international human rights bodies to investigate and hold India accountable.
-
The Government of Myanmar to break its silence and defend its territorial integrity.
-
Civil society and human rights defenders to support an independent international probe.
-
The Government of India to end military aggression and respect the dignity and rights of the Naga people.
Extending condolences to the victims’ families, the Forum reaffirmed solidarity with the Khammoi community, demanding truth, accountability, and justice.
