ZUF Issues Summon to Actress Kungliangliu Gangmei and Father

A summon letter from the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) – Zeliangrong Tiger Force has surfaced, addressed to the father of Kungliangliu Gangmei, a Zeliangrong social influencer and actress from Satudai Village.

The letter, dated 23rd August 2025 and signed by MK Ajona Kamei (GSO-1), directs the father and daughter to appear at the group's General Headquarters on 24th August 2025. The summon cites issues over Kungliangliu's "presentation and dressing in media," calling it a challenge to a prior warning issued by the outfit.

The notice has sparked concern among locals and her supporters, who fear rising militant interference in cultural expression and women's freedom.

Unidentified Young Woman’s Body Found in Dwarka, Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 23: The body of a young woman, believed to be from the Northeast, was found inside a large jute bag near a park nalah in Dwarka District, PS Dabri area.

According to initial details shared by Helping Hands, the deceased appears to be around 20 years old, possibly a college student or a young working professional. She has a distinctive black tattoo on her hand – a heart symbol with the letters “RR” – which may help in identifying her.

The organisation has appealed to the public, especially those from the Northeast community in Delhi, to help in identification. If no family comes forward, Helping Hands has stated that they will take responsibility for her burial in the Dwarka graveyard.

Robin Hibu, IPS and President of Helping Hands, urged, “If anyone has information about a missing girl, please share the details immediately so the body can be handed over to the family with dignity.”

Those with information are requested to contact Helping Hands and assist in the identification process.

Janakpuri Roads Turning into Dumping Yards

New Delhi, Aug 22: The once lively and bustling Janakpuri locality in South West Delhi is now a picture of neglect, with long stretches of its roadside turning into open garbage dumps. Piles of rotting waste, plastic bags, leftover food, and even construction debris are lying unattended in full public view. To make matters worse, cows and stray animals are forced to eat from the filth, while swarms of flies, mosquitoes, and rats infest the area, creating a grave health hazard.

What is shocking is the blatant indifference of the concerned civic authorities. Despite being situated beside a busy road with heavy pedestrian and vehicle movement, the garbage remains uncollected for days. The foul stench has made life miserable for commuters and residents alike. “It’s not just dirt—it’s a slow poison we are breathing every day. Children and elderly are the worst affected,” said a local shopkeeper, visibly angry at the state of affairs.

The situation is compounded by chaotic traffic snarls. Cars, buses, autos, and bikes crawl bumper to bumper, with no proper management in sight. Hawkers and illegal parking worsen the congestion, making the roads nearly impossible to navigate during peak hours. The combination of traffic mismanagement and garbage heaps reflects the collapse of urban governance in one of Delhi’s busiest zones.

Health experts warn that such unhygienic conditions could trigger outbreaks of dengue, malaria, and other waterborne diseases. Yet, the authorities appear to be in deep slumber. Municipal garbage trucks appear occasionally, but the waste keeps piling up as if there is no long-term plan or monitoring system in place.

Residents are questioning whether Janakpuri has been completely abandoned by the Delhi civic body. “The government talks about Swachh Bharat, but here we are standing in a mountain of garbage. If this is the capital of India, what example are we setting for the world?” asked another resident in frustration.

It is time the Delhi Government and Municipal Corporation act with urgency. Strict enforcement of waste disposal rules, daily cleaning, penalties on open dumping, and proper traffic regulation must be implemented without delay. Until then, Janakpuri will remain trapped in filth and chaos — a dark reminder of official negligence in the heart of the national capital.

Assam Rifles Clarifies on Mapping of Myanmarese Nationals

Imphal, Aug 21, 2025:
The Assam Rifles has issued a clarification regarding the mapping of Myanmarese nationals following misrepresentation of a statement made by its Director General, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhhera, during a seminar at Manipur University.

According to the press release, Lt Gen Lakhhera explained that under the new Free Movement Regime (FMR) policy, Myanmarese nationals entering India through designated crossing points are being systematically mapped. Since December, over 42,000 individuals have been recorded using biometric systems and other measures instituted by concerned government agencies. The collected data is being shared with all relevant authorities.

The clarification further highlighted that Myanmarese citizens primarily stay temporarily in the northeastern states of India, particularly in Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh, before eventually returning to their country under the provisions of the FMR policy.

The seminar, held at Manipur University, was part of ongoing academic collaboration between the Assam Rifles and the university.

The release urged media outlets not to twist or misconstrue the statement, stressing the importance of reflecting facts in their correct context.

Kuki-Zo Council Refutes “Illegal Immigrants” Claim in Manipur

KUKI-ZO COUNCIL
Headquarters: Lamka | Email: kukizocouncil@gmail.com

PRESS RELEASE

KZC/SIP/PR/017 | Dated: 21st August 2025

The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) expresses deep concern over the deliberate misinterpretation of the recent statement made by the Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) regarding the influx of individuals from Myanmar into India. The DGAR had clearly stated that around 42,000 persons have crossed over into India from Myanmar due to the ongoing political and ethnic turmoil in that country. These individuals have been sheltered across various North Eastern States, including Mizoram, Manipur, and Nagaland.

However, former Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri N. Biren Singh, in his habitual haste and malice, twisted this fact to once again propagate his false narrative of “illegal immigrants” in Manipur. This reckless statement is not only misleading but also dangerous, as it seeks to vilify the Kuki-Zo people and further inflame tensions in an already fragile situation.

The fact of the matter is that these 42,000 persons are not “illegal immigrants” as alleged by Biren Singh. They are victims of war and persecution in Myanmar, who have crossed the international border seeking refuge and safety. The Assam Rifles, in accordance with established protocols of the Free Movement Regime (FMR), has been recording their biometrics and documents, ensuring that due procedures are followed. This alone refutes the baseless claim that they are “illegal.”

It is highly regrettable that certain media houses, instead of exercising journalistic integrity, have chosen to echo Biren Singh’s false narrative, thereby spreading misinformation and stigmatizing an entire community. We urge the media to exercise greater responsibility and verify facts before publishing such sensitive reports.

The Kuki-Zo people of Manipur are not illegal immigrants, nor have we entered India in recent times. We are the indigenous sons and daughters of this land, whose history and existence in the hills of Manipur long predate the present political boundaries. Attempts to brand us otherwise are nothing but a continuation of the divisive and discriminatory politics of N. Biren Singh, whose tenure as Chief Minister was marked by communal prejudice and targeted policies against the Kuki-Zo.

TN Haokip’s Name Erased: Khongjom War Gate Divided

The name of former Minister T.N. Haokip has been deliberately erased from the Khongjom War Memorial Gate plaque. What was once a mark of respect now stands as a scar—reflecting Manipur’s ongoing ethnic tensions.

The memorial, built to honour unity, sacrifice, and the fight against colonial rule, should remind people of courage and togetherness. Instead, it has become another sign of the rift between the Meitei and Kuki communities.

The removal of Haokip’s name is not just about one man—it symbolizes the deep mistrust dividing Manipur today. Observers believe this act shows how much relations have worsened. Instead of healing wounds, damaging memorials only deepens scars.

The irony is striking: Haokip’s wife is Meitei, highlighting how personal ties still connect both communities through marriage, blood, and shared history. Yet, public acts like this only emphasize separation.

This is more than a missing name—it is about the breaking apart of coexistence. Unless both sides respect their shared past, such acts will continue to damage hopes for peace.

The Khongjom War Memorial, once a tribute to bravery and sacrifice, now tells a painful story of division—stone by stone.
