Open Letter to the Kuki-Zo Council, ITLF, and Their Counterparts

Date: 12 April 2025

To the leaders of the Kuki-Zo Council, ITLF, and affiliated organizations, Where is your voice?

Not long ago, a drunken driving incident shook your conscience so swiftly that a press statement was dispatched with urgency. You condemned, clarified, escalated, and rightly so, because even an _assault on one drunken driver_ should not go unanswered. But today, we ask: when four of our daughters, yes, _four_ have fallen victim to brutal rape, repeated sexual assault, and murder within the span of just one month, why have your pens fallen silent?

Where is your outrage when a child is raped and killed?

Where is your solidarity when a young woman is violated, murdered, and discarded like nothing? Where is your press release now?

You were quick to communalize the act of a drunk driver. But here, amidst blood-soaked silence and shattered lives, you have offered not even a line of grief, let alone rage. Is sexual violence not worthy of your urgent attention? Is the safety of our women not within the scope of your public concern?

Let us be clear: this silence is not passive. It is loud. It is bold. And yes, it is rich of you.

While your inks, PRs, platforms, loudspeakers, and banners claim to protect our people, you fail to protect the very soul of our community, our women. Your silence in the face of such grotesque violence is not neutrality. It is complicity.

We will not allow you to mourn selectively. We will not accept your silence as an oversight. This is a *grave, sick, and dire condition of our society*, and you, so-called community leaders, have chosen not to lead.

You issue statements to protect your reputation. But who protects the dignity of our women? Who mourns them with us? Who demands justice?

This is no longer just a call for condemnation. It is a demand for *accountability*. If your voices can echo for a brawl, political demands and territorial claims, they must also rise first and foremost when the bodies of our girls lie desecrated in our land.

We will no longer accept this silence. We will remember it.

With pain and unwavering resolve,

BTT
