Kuki-Zo Council Defends German-Tiger and Singheu Roads as Humanitarian Lifelines
LAMKA , July 20, 2025: The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has strongly condemned recent allegations by certain Meitei groups branding the German-Tiger Road and Singheu Road as "drug routes," calling the claims “baseless and malicious.”
In an official press release issued on July 20 by Ginza Vualzong, Secretary, Information & Publicity, Kuki-Zo Council (KZC), the council asserted that the roads are humanitarian lifelines, not criminal conduits. According to the statement, these routes were revived and upgraded out of necessity after the ethnic violence of May 3, 2023, which rendered Meitei-dominated areas unsafe for Kuki-Zo communities.
The German-Tiger Road connects Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, while the Singheu Road serves as a vital link between Churachandpur, Chandel, and Tengnoupal, especially after access to Sugnu was cut off.
“These roads are used for transporting essential goods, school children, patients, and ordinary passengers. It’s a community-led effort to ensure survival and connectivity, not for illicit trade,” the release emphasized.
The council accused those spreading such narratives of trying to criminalize and isolate the Kuki-Zo people, especially in light of the controversial Biren Audio Tape case.
Calling on the central government to intervene, the KZC urged authorities to reject “divisive and baseless” allegations and instead invest in improving the roads, describing them as symbols of resilience in the face of violence, displacement, and blockade.
The statement concluded by warning that any move to disrupt these routes reflects a deeper political intent to marginalize and dismantle the Kuki-Zo community.

Lamka’s Roads Cry for Care | Zogam Today
“These pictures show the present state of Lamka town — the connecting alleys and roads in the heart of the town. Potholes filled with dirty water, open drains, and scattered garbage speak louder than words. It’s sad to see such neglect in one of the town’s busiest areas. The question remains — whose responsibility is it to keep our main roads clean, safe, and worthy of a growing town like Lamka?”
Here are the pictures that reveal the truth, covered by Zogam Today on 19 July 2021.
