A DC is a Servant, Not a King

The Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Mr. Dharun Kumar, shocked many by asking Mr. Ginza Vualzong, a prominent tribal leader in Lamka, to call him “Sir.” Mr. Vualzong took to Twitter to expose this feudal mindset. In a democracy, officials are servants of the people, not masters.

Public Office, Not Personal Ego: Authority flows from the people. Addressing a DC by name or as “Mr.” is respectful and proper. Demanding “Sir” undermines equality and democratic values.

Colonial Hangover: Honorifics like “Sir” are relics of British rule. Independent India must not tolerate such ruler-subject attitudes.

Respect is Earned, Not Demanded: True respect comes from integrity and humility, not entitlement. Mr. Dharun Kumar, as an IAS officer, must focus on the grievances of the people and the needs of the district he serves, not on personal honorifics.

If Mr. Dharun feels entitled to be addressed as “Sir,” he needs a reminder: in India, sovereignty rests not with bureaucrats, but with We, the People. In a free India, calling the bureaucrats by name is our right—because they work for us, not above us.

PREPARATIONS IN FULL SWING FOR 134TH DURAND CUP, 2025 KICK-OFF ON JULY 30

Imphal, July 27, 2025 (DIPR): All preparations are underway for the grand kick-off of the 134th Durand Cup, 2025, slated to commence on July 30, 2025, at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal. Jointly organised by the Indian Army and the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports (YAS), Government of Manipur, the tournament will continue till August 12, 2025.

Speaking to DIPR media team, Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh, MCS, Director of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Manipur, stated that the first chapter of the Durand Cup, 2025 holds special significance as it marks the first major sporting event in the state following the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and the ongoing crisis that erupted in May 2023. He asserted that the event aimed to reignite positivity, enthusiasm, and the spirit of sportsmanship among players and the people of the state.

He mentioned that six matches will be hosted during the tournament in Manipur, scheduled for July 30, August 1, 4, 7, 10, and the final match on August 12. He noted that four teams will compete in the Imphal leg of the tournament including Real Kashmir FC, Indian Navy Football Team from outside the state, and home teams NEROCA FC and TRAU FC. He added that tickets for the Durand Cup matches can be purchased from designated outlets and Army counters.

He maintained that extensive efforts have been made by the YAS Department, other line departments, and members of the Indian Army to ensure the grand success of the event. He further said that the Steering Committee led by the Chief Secretary, Organising Committee under the YAS Secretary, and 17 line sub-committees including traffic management, fire safety, and medical emergencies have also been constituted to ensure smooth conduct of the event.

Addressing the previous overcrowding issues, Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh assured that comprehensive crowd management and safety measures are in place, stating that a colour-coded system will be implemented for seating areas and passes to regulate crowd movement, while designated parking zones have been identified in coordination with traffic and civil police for the convenience of attendees. The YAS Director appealed to the public for their support and cooperation to ensure the smooth conduct and grand success of the event.

Major Arms & Ammunition Recovered in Manipur Hill Districts Operation

Imphal, July 28, 2025: In a major breakthrough, the Manipur Police, in coordination with the Assam Rifles, Indian Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), has recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and warlike materials during intensive search operations across several hill districts of the state.

According to a press note issued by the Office of the Director General of Police, Manipur, the joint operations were launched over the past few days based on specific intelligence inputs indicating the presence of hidden weapon stockpiles. Multiple coordinated raids were carried out in the interior and suspected areas of Churachandpur, Pherzawl, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Tengnoupal districts.

As per the official statement, the operation led to the seizure of 155 weapons, including:

• AK Series Rifles – 08

• INSAS Rifles – 02

• SLR – 01

• Sniper Rifle with telescope – 01

• M4 Rifle – 01

• Carbine – 04

• 12 Bore – 14

• 9mm Pistols – 08

• Country-made Pistols – 14

• Double and Single Barrel Guns – 21

• Pompi – 31

• Lathodes – 04

• And other assorted firearms including bolt action rifles and muzzle loaders.

In addition, 1652 rounds of ammunition were recovered, which included:

• 39 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)

• 13 Hand Grenades

• 1600 rounds of assorted ammunition

Other items seized during the operations include 4 binoculars, 15 communication sets, and 1 telescope, all believed to have been used in militant or unlawful activities.

“These intelligence-led operations mark a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur,” the DGP office noted. “The coordinated efforts of the Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Army, and CAPFs have helped avert potential threats to civilian life and public safety.”

The Manipur Police has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or illegal arms possession to the nearest police station or the Central Control Room. The department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all communities across the state.

Senior police officials stated that similar operations will continue in a “sustained and focused manner” to bring stability and security back to the affected regions.

TBC (ABA) Women Department Seminar: Kha lam a ginomna leh siangthouna

The Women’s Department of Thangkhal Baptist Church (ABA) held an impactful and spiritually enriching seminar on 26th July 2025 at the Tuibuang TBC (ABA) church. The event brought together women from the congregation for a day focused on growth, fellowship, and empowerment.

(Walking in obedience and holiness in Spirit)

🎤 Resource Person:
The seminar was led by Evan Chingngaihlun, who delivered powerful and heartfelt sessions. Through her teachings, she encouraged women to walk in obedience to God and uphold their dignity through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Her message was deeply rooted in Scripture and offered practical insights for daily life.

💬 Many women participants shared their joy and gratitude, saying they felt spiritually uplifted and were learning to understand their faith on a deeper level. The seminar created a space for women to reconnect with their spiritual calling and encourage one another in their journey.
