Kuki-Zo holds Rally for Separate Administration (with pics & videos)

Lamka, 20 July 2023: Under the aegis of Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF),  a "Rally for Separate Administration" has been carried out in the hill districts of Manipur viz Lamka, Pherzawl, Kangpokpi and Tengnoupal, etc.

The rally is organised by Kuki-Zo tribals to voice their unanimous demand for a separate administration from the state of Manipur.

The rally started at 10 am at Lamka Public Ground and ended at Peace Ground in Tuibong, a distance of around 3 km.

Participants dressed in black. More than 10,000 people likely took part in the rally, which is probably the largest rally yet in the hill districts of Manipur this year.

Banners which read “Too much tribal blood has flowed, separation is the only solution”, “Rally for separate administration” and “Central government, please recognise our separation from Manipur” were held up by participants

The rally started under a sunny sky but heavy rains drenched rally-goers as they made their way to Peace Ground. But this did not deter the thousands of people, who shouted slogans like “We want total separation”, “Long live tribal unity”, Biren government, down, down” and Arambai Tenggol, down down”, among others as they marched through the streets.

At Peace Ground, speeches from ITLF leaders and community leaders were heard, apart from songs from the local artist community.

The rally ended with the submission of a memorandum for Home Minister Amit Shah through the Deputy Commissioner of Lamka.
