Minor raped by 3 men over 3 days in Gurugram, Delhi

GURUGRAM, 2019 AUG 09 [TOI] – A 14-year-old girl who came to the city from Meghalaya last week, believing the man escorting her all the way from home would enroll her with a placement agency, was allegedly raped repeatedly by three men over three days and molested by another. The teenager was held captive by the men who kept moving her from one location to another, shuttling Delhi and Gurugram

She was allegedly raped in Chauma village and Sector 39 in Gurugram, and at an unknown place in Delhi before being rescued from Chauma by two people from Meghalaya on August 6. She was taken to Meghalaya House in Delhi.

The three men accused of rape are Lokesh, Bhupender and an unidentified relative of Lokesh. The man accused of molestation has been identified as Omprakash Singh.

With the intervention of a parliamentarian from the northeast, a case was registered against the four men under sections 6 (penetrative sexual assault) and 8 (aggravated sexual assault) of the Pocso Act and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC at the Rajendra Park police station on Thursday.

Bhupender, Omprakash and a woman named Ritu, who has also been booked for criminal conspiracy, have been arrested and will be produced before court on Friday. Police spokesperson Subhash Boken said more arrests are likely soon.

Since the teenager has no knowledge of Hindi and English, a senior police officer posted in Meghalaya House acted as interpreter to record her statement.

According to police, the girl started her journey from her home in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district on July 30. She was accompanied by Aman alias Chottu, who runs a placement agency that provides maids and nursing assistants. The two reached Gurugram on August 2 and the minor was taken to a house in Rajendra Park where Aman, his brother Lokesh and a few others lived.

The girl’s ordeal began the next day on August 3 when, finding her alone at home, Lokesh alias Lambu molested her. In the evening, he took her to the house of his friend Ritu in Chauma.

On August 4, the minor was allegedly forced to drink liquor and was raped by Lokesh. The following day, on August 5, she was taken to a placement office in Sector 39 by Ritu. The office belongs to Bhupender, a resident of Royal Court.

The minor was again forced to drink alcohol and raped by Bhupender. Thereafter, Bhupender’s friend Omprakash, who is a resident of Palam Vihar, also reached the office and molested the girl. In the evening, she was brought back to Ritu’s place.

On August 6, Lokesh took the girl to a house in Delhi, where she was again raped by a person whose identity has not yet been established. The teenager said in her complaint the house belonged to Lokesh’s cousin. The girl, who was drowsy under the influence of alcohol, fell down the stairs, following which Lokesh rushed to the spot and took her back to Ritu’s house in Chauma.

There, the girl managed to contact a person from Meghalaya whom she had met at the house in Rajendra Park on the day of her arrival. The following day, she was about to be shifted to another place when Salman Sangma and Gelsing Marak rescued her and brought her back to Rajendra Park. They then approached Meghalaya House.

Salman and Gelsing told police that after receiving her call, they had pressured Lokesh’s girlfriend for the girl’s location. “They took the girl to Meghalaya House where officials and a leader from the northeast came forward to help and Delhi Police was informed,” a senior Gurugram police officer said.

Aman, who brought the girl to Gurugram, has not been arrested yet.

I like your smile... Never stop smiling: APJ Abdul Kalam

Popularly known as 'The Missile Man of India' -- Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam (b15.10.1931) -- was the 11th President of India from 25 July 2002 to 25 July 2007.  A scientist turned politician, Kalam was born and raised in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu and studied physics and aerospace engineering. He passed away in Shillong, Meghalaya State on 27 July 2015. Rest in Peace, Respected Sir, PEOPLE'S President!

HERE is a memorable and lively encounter with Dr Abdul Kalam from the words of a top cop from northeastern parts of India.

NEW DELHI, 28 JULY 2015 — I too had touching moments with President Kalam, In full IPS black bandgala dress... all IPS Officers were asked to line up as President will meet all of us being escorted by Dr KK Paul, Commisioner of Delhi Police during his Presidentship during at home function at Delhi.

When he handshaked with me, he smiled and said, "I like your smile... never stop smiling", and said, "People from hills are more happy because they are with nature and always smile".

And he told the commissioner that more young officers should be encouraged to serve at Delhi, so that more youth will be encouraged.

After few years, I was incharge of his security at Tawang Festival. ...he immediately recognised me and said, so young man, you are here....he whispered something at his secretary Mr PM Nair's ear, after the function was over...His Secretary asked me that why not I  join Rasthrapati Bhavan on deputation?

I missed lifetime opportunity to serve the nation with such illustrious visionary president of India.

I have photograph of that pulsating movements with President Dr Kalam hanging at my wall....read his book “Ignited Mind”.

For me he is an inspirational hero. ..... pauperised newspaper frail boy from rural Kerala … who rose to become President of India, decorated with Bharat Ratna by sheer dint of hardwork and sincerity.

Nation especially youth will miss ... such noble and down to earth President. And he died amidst youth of IIM, Shillong....

Rest in Peace, Sir.
Adieu ! Adieu !

Gangrape survivor denied admission by schools in Meghalaya

Meghalaya, 26 March 2013 [CNN-IBN] --- Even after the arrest of 16 accused - minors and adults - in a gangrape case in Meghalaya, the survivor is still being victimised. The 18-year-old was forced to shift towns to escape harassment and is now being denied admission by new schools.

Two schools in Tura town in Meghalaya have refused admission to the 18-year-old gangrape survivor. The teenager was gangraped in a lane at Williamnagar in Garo Hills on the night of December 13, 2012. When CNN-IBN met her earlier, she had only one request. She wanted to change her school.

Bleeding and semi-conscious, on that December night she was dropped off to her home by two boys. "I was coming back from the winter festival with two other friends. A group of boys chased us. I ran and fell down. They hit me with a stone. I fell down and then they tore my clothes and raped me. I recognized two boys," she said.

Her parents were in shock when CNN-IBN met them in January. "It is a shame that boys from our community did this. My daughter should get justice," said the survivor's mother.

Nothing has changed or moved. Things have only got worse for the family. The girl has been photographed by the family members of the alleged rapists and threatened to withdraw the case in a manner activists had been threatened before.

With the help of student organisations she moved to Tura for a new start and a new school. But schools don't want to give admission to a gangrape victim.

All the 16 boys have been arrested. Eight of them are in juvenile custody and eight in jail. The trial has begun, but Williamnagar does not have a fast-track court.

"People are less bothered. They don't feel angry it seems. We came for a public protest. But nobody came out. We even called them with a microphone. Nobody came out," PMDR member Jaynie Ninring said.

The case was overshadowed by the Meghalaya elections and now with this rejection, it is one more day in the long wait for justice.
