To
The President
All India Football Federation
Subject: Unravelling the truth beneath the Flag
Respected Sir,
I am deeply sorry to tell you that the action of Jeakson Singh following the conclusion of the SAFF Championships in Bengaluru on Tuesday have outraged millions of football fans in northeast India and around the world.
Jeakson Singh had a multi-coloured flag wrapped over his jersey, which is the flag of Kangleipak, a seven-coloured flag representing the seven clan dynasties of the Meitei ethnicity which he belongs.
Numerous tribes in the northern states and around the world were highly offended by his conduct, mostly because the flag represents solidarity among the majority of Manipur's Meitei clans.
The cruelty of what the people did while operating under the same flag that Jeakson Singh demonstrated during the medal ceremony is beyond words.
They even raised the flag atop the burned-out church of the tribal people.
His motive was clear by wrapping the flag at the ceremony.
He later apologised and stated that his intention was to advance peace after receiving so much negative feedback on social media.
If his goal was to foster peace and harmony, he could have done in a more respectable way that wouldn't have offended other communities.
Sportspersons have frequently attempted to promote their propaganda to a bigger audience during a live television broadcast and many athletes have been reprimanded for their actions on countless occasions.
Let me tell you one example. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was fined by the Football Association (FA) and warned over his future conduct after wearing a yellow ribbon supporting political prisoners in his native Catalonia.
Likewise, It is also obvious that Jeakson Singh attempted to utilise the Meitei flag to further Meitei propaganda, which is offensive to the thousands of tribal people that live across the globe.
You may be aware that during the ethnic violence, the home of India Under 17 team forward Thanglalsoun Gangte was burned down, and his uncle was also killed while Thanglalsoun Gangte was away in Europe playing for India. Thanglalsoun, like many other displaced persons, has nowhere to go home and is seeking refuge in Mizoram.
While these events are taking place, Jeakson Singh's actions cannot be understood as he belongs to the majority Meitei clan, his motive was clear, and his claim should not be believed under any circumstances.
As a result, I ask the All India Football Federation to bar Jeakson Singh from performing his national duty because sports should foster peace rather than hostility.
While his behaviour was highly deplorable, the failure to take action against him is far worse. In other words, the All India Football Federation both encourages and permits hostility.
Yours Sincerely,
JOSEPH LALRINTLUANGA

UNC warns "not to drag Nagas" in the ongoing conflict in Manipur
Senapati, July 6: Terming strongly against anyone trying to drag in the Nagas into the conflict zone, the United Naga Council (UNC) said it is perturbed at a foul play being meddled in the past incidence. In a press communique issued from the Information & Publicity Cell, the UNC stated that it vehemently condemned the press statement issued in the local English daily on July 2, 2023 in the name of Manipur Patriotic Party, and press clarification by MPP on the following day leveling an accusation to one Ally Shimray, one of the administrators of “Southern Nagalim.”
Hmar Students Association (JHQ) Delhi condemns the killing of Mrs Donngaihching
This atrocious act, committed in broad daylight, is a gross violation of humanity and a clear indication of the deteriorating law and order situation in Manipur. The fact that Mrs. Donngaihching is a mentally challenged woman makes this act even more reprehensible and disgraceful.
We also vehemently denounce the false narratives propagated by certain Meitei groups in accusing Mrs. Dongaihching of being “suicide bomber”. Such baseless allegations promulgated by the Meiteis is a direct indication of their devious intention to divert attention from the real issue at hand to further victimise the already mentally incapacitated person.
We also question the competency of the state government of Manipur led by N Biren Singh in handling the grave situation that has unfolded in the state. The inability of the state government to protect the innocent lives of its citizens, particularly the vulnerable sections of society, raises serious concerns about the effectiveness and efficiency of the state administration system. Therefore, in view of the deteriorating law and order situation in Manipur, the HSA JHQ, Delhi calls for the swift removal of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the implementation of President's Rule in the state of Manipur to ensure the safety of all citizens.
In conclusion, the Hmar Students Association Joint Headquarters, Delhi extends its deepest condolence to the family and loved ones of Mrs. Donngaihching. We share the grief of the victim’s family and stand in solidarity with the Kuki-Hmar-Zomi-Mizo community in demanding justice for Mrs. Dongaihching and all the innocent lives lost till date.
We also reiterate our unwavering commitment in upholding the unity of the Kuki-Hmar-Zomi-Mizo communities in our pursuit towards a future where every community can thrive in peace and harmony.
May the soul of Mrs. Dongaihching rest in eternal peace and may her tragic incident serve as a catalyst for change and justice.

ITLF condemns the killing of mentally retarded tribal-woman in Imphal
LAMKA, 06 JULY 2023 (PR): A Kuki-Zo tribal woman who did not leave Imphal despite the ethnic cleansing in Manipur’s capital because of a mental illness was shot dead on Thursday morning in the heart of the city.
The victim, Ms. Donngaihching, was killed by Meitei gunmen near Shishu Niketan school in Kwakeithel, Imphal West.
Ms. Donngaihching used to spend her days walking the streets aimlessly and lived in a small shed near a church in Lamphel area built by sympathizers. Fellow tribals used to give her food.
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) vehemently refutes the false allegations on social media by Meitei propagandists that she was a suicide bomber. The disinformation campaign by the state-sponsored IT cell is becoming flimsier every day and does not spare even the mentally challenged.
The ITLF strongly condemns the killing of Ms. Donngaihching and reiterates that no tribals – women, children and even the mentally challenged – are safe from the genocidal program of the majority community.

Manipur violence: Mizoram CM lashes out against Manipur CM
While we hope with much goodwill, anticipation and hope, things would turn for the better, situations seem to have worsened. When will it STOP? I condole my Manipuri Zo Ethnic brethren, my incessant prayers for those who have lost their loved ones, their homes and families wrecked in shatters. May the gracious Lord give you the strength and the wisdom to navigate through this disastrous incident.
I wish not to see anymore, pictures and video clips of Churches being burnt, brutal killings and violence of all nature, regardless of gender and age. If there is ONLY one way of settling for peace, shall we opt for that? Many lives have been lost, bloodshed all over, physical torture & the victims are looking for refuge wherever possible. With no iota of doubt, those victims are my kin and kin, my own blood and should we quieten the situation by just being silent? I don't think so! I would like to call for immediate restoration of peace and normalcy. It is incumbent and imperative upon those responsible and law-abiding citizens or entities of India to look for immediate ways for peace restoration. Development with a human touch and Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas applies to my Zo ethnic tribes in Manipur too!
The brutal violence in Manipur has resulted in Internally Displaced People to the tune of 12,000 in Mizoram.
Refugees and/or IDPs from Manipur, Myanmar & Bangladesh have risen to over 50,000. I wish & pray that the Central Govt., on humanitarian ground lend us an immediate helping hand.
~ Pu Zoramthanga, Chief Minister, Mizoram
