Motivating Kuki-Zo Students in Bengaluru

Bro Lema (MTh II, UTC, Bengaluru) provided counselling and prayed for our two brothers.

MOTIVATIONAL PICS

IT WAS around 6:30 PM on 25 July 2023 (Tuesday), a truly emotional moment to give a short talk on advice and to the newly arrived Kuki-Zo youths from Manipur.

These youths were new to the city. They were warmly and hospitably accommodated by Rev. Dr. Fr. Cyril Victor Joseph, Director of Paalana Bhavana (Archdiocesan Pastoral Center), Archdiocese of Bangalore.

Father Cyril was deeply concerned for these youths. Some essentials like soap, toothbrushes, clothes, etc., were provided free of cost, besides food and accommodation. “I want them to become successful in life. That is why I am taking care of them like my own brothers,” he said.

Some of the students have already secured admission and joined classes in Catholic-run institutions in Bengaluru, while others will soon be heading to Mangaluru for their studies. Some are waiting to move into their respective hostel accommodations once they are ready.

At present, an estimated 500-700 students from Manipur, displaced by the ongoing violence, are studying free-of-cost in various Catholic schools and colleges across Karnataka. What a miraculous effort!

 Jeremiah 33:3
Call to me, and I will answer you, and will tell you
great and hidden things that you have not known.”

During the motivational speech, three key points were emphasized:
First, Be Obedient.
Second, Be Punctual.
Thirdly, Be Studious.

And most importantly, never forget to PRAY -- begin the day with prayer and end it with humble prayer at night.

“Our homes are burnt, our villages are burnt, our churches are burnt, our schools are burnt... You all are lucky to be here. Don't forget your opportunity. Don't forget your purpose. Focus on your studies and aim for success. One day, we have to go back home to rebuild our homes, beautifully once again. It is our responsibility -- all of us here.”

Tears filled my eyes, yet controlling… and finally concluded with a word of prayer in Kuki-Zo dialect. That moment marked the end of our gathering, but the beginning of their journey.

Hmar Women Assn holds Protest Rally in Senvon (Pics & Videos)

Lamka, 25 July 2023: The Hmar Women Association, Pherzawl District, today organised a protest rally to condemn the heinous crimes committed by the Meitei mob and their terrorists against the Kuki-Hmar-Zomi-Mizo Unau tribes.

Over 3,000 people took part in the rally that was held in Senvon village. A silent prayer for victims of the ethnic cleansing was also held.

We condemn in the strongest terms the parading of tribal women and subsequent rape by the Meiteis. No such incident should be repeated. We also condemn the beheading of Mr David Hmar, a village defence volunteer, by members of Meitei militia groups.

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh has failed terribly to maintain law and order and he should be removed from his position immediately.
