Men forced to draw lots to decide military service in Mandalay

March 25, 2025: The regime forced draft-age men or their guardians in Maha Aungmyay Township, Mandalay Region on Monday to draw lots to determine who would be conscripted into the military. Residents said they were notified about the lottery three days ahead of time. Parents and guardians of those drafted were reportedly forced to sign declarations that they voluntarily sent their children to administrative offices when called up. According to the Spring Revolution Database, 12,655 young men were forcibly conscripted in the first 10 rounds of the junta's draft.
