Kuki Revolutionary Army refutes KNF’s allegations
IMPHAL,
JULY 25, 2019 (IFP) – The Kuki Revolutionary Army/ Kuki
National Organisation (KRA/KNO) today clarified that it has nothing do with the
alleged murder of PRO, KNF, Demkhohao Kipgen on July 22.
A released by joint secretary, information and
publicity, KRA/KNO, T. Simte stated that the allegations made by Kuki National
Front(KNF) regarding the murder of Demkhohao in Kangchup Chiru Village accusing
KRA/KNO is false and unverified sources and baseless allegations to defame the
organisation.
It warned the KNF not to make such false
accusations in the future by mere presumption of any incidents. The KRA is one
of the arm groups under KNO which strictly adhere to ground rules and obliged
by laws and constitution of India, since the organisation is a part of
tripartite talks with State and Centre, it asserted.
Branding the KNF as a ‘terrorist’ group and a black
sheep organisation, it alleged that it was KNF who forcefully dragged out ex-
KRA, Satlhun Haokip and Ngamlet from their house at midnight of May 5,2017 from
Khoken village and were brutally murdered.
But KRA/KNO resolved to talks with representatives
of the state government with KNF on the other sides and the matter was
peacefully solved in manner that KNF would not disturb the people of New
Keithelmanbi and Kangchup areas again, but in contrary to that, KNF continue
disturbing the people of the area, it added.
Appealing the concern authority to check such
anti-social activities in public interest, it further stated that KNF resorting
in such anti-social activities would not bring anything good for the
society.

In a first, BJP forms Christian Missionary wing in Mizoram
The cell will run a 24X7 helpline for Mizoram missionaries
AIZAWL,
JULY 25 (IANS) – To diminish its anti-Christian tag, the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) has set up the country's first Christian Missionary wing in Mizoram,
where the saffron party has one MLA in the 40-member House, party leaders said
on Thursday.
Mizoram
BJP President J.V. Hluna said a five-member committee of Christian Missionary
wing was formed with Hriata Chhangte as Chairman and Julie Vanpari as
Secretary.
Hluna
said: "The Christian wing was formed as some political parties and
churches are accusing the BJP to be an anti-Christian party."
The
Christian Missionary wing was formally opened on Wednesday.
"Initially
we will start social activities for the cause of Mizos and gradually expand our
activities," the 54-year-old mining engineer-turned-politician told IANS.
Chhangte
said that occasionally Mizo people were harassed in different parts of the
country when they went for studies, professional work, medical treatment and
other purposes. This missionary wing will help address such grievances.
The
Christian Missionary wing will have a 24X7 helpline.
"As
I worked in many parts parts of the country as a central government official
including in Gujarat, Odisha, Karnataka, Assam, I feel that BJP is a most
secular party."
Chhangte,
who lost the Lok Sabha elections in Mizoram as an independent candidate, said:
"That the BJP is anti-Christian is false, spread by the Congress because
it did not want it to come to power in Mizoram".
Though
the ruling Mizo National Front is a constituent of the BJP-led North East
Democratic Alliance (NEDA), both the parties separately contested the Assembly
and the Lok Sabha polls in the Christian dominated state.
With
a population of 1,091,014 (according to the 2011 census), Mizoram is a closely
knit society with a Christian majority (87 per cent).

Lok Sabha passes the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2019
NEW
DELHI, JULY 22, 2019 – Lok Sabha passed the Right to
Information (Amendment) Bill, 2019 today. In this amendment, it is proposed to
amend the Right to Information Act, 2005 so as to provide that the term of
office of, and the salaries, allowances and other terms and conditions of
service of, the Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners
and the State Chief Information Commissioner and the State Information
Commissioners, shall be such as may be prescribed by the Central Government.
Participating in the
debate on the Bill, Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances
and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that this Government is fully committed
to transparency and accountability. Following this principle, the Government
has encouraged suo motu dissemination of maximum information by Government
Departments in order to reduce number of RTIs.
In addition to this, the Minister said that the Government is focusing on grievance redressal through citizen involvement. This has strengthened the underlying principle of RTI and has consistently reduced the pendency of RTI applications in the last 5 years, the Minister informed the House.
Assuring the members that the Government is not misusing its powers to frame rules regarding State Information Commissions, Shri Singh said that according to the original RTI act of 2005, the power of framing rules in respect of Information Commissions does not fall under the purview of either the Union or the State or the Concurrent lists. Hence, framing rules, even for the State Information Commissions, falls under the Residuary powers of the Union Government, the Minister said.
Replying on the issue of comparison of service conditions of Information Commissions and Election Commissions, Shri Singh said that the Central Information Commission and State Information Commissions are statutory bodies established under the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005. Therefore, the mandate of Election Commission of India and Central and State Information Commissions are different. Hence, their status and service conditions need to be rationalised accordingly.

dealing with the appointment of Information Commissioners. Thus, the question
of decreasing autonomy of the Information Commissions does not arise, the
Minister added.
