Injustice on Women’s Day: When Protectors Become Perpetrators
Nevertheless, our women are fighting bravely and fiercely, like true warriors, to defend our ancestral land against outsiders who frequently use salami-slicing tactics to seize tribal lands. They raped our women, decapitated our people, and hunted us in the valley of death like wild animals, seeking to eradicate us. How can we allow these people to negotiate peace after they have massacred us? We refuse to repeat past mistakes by trusting a community known for habitual deceit—even British records document this about the Meitei community.
We ask the central government, especially Home Minister Amit Shah, whether allowing force-free movement would truly bring lasting peace. Deep down, you know it will not yield satisfactory results. Instead, it appears to be another propaganda tactic to provoke the Kuki people, waiting for us to make a mistake. Why are you siding with the Meitei community and allowing them to invade our land, even after multiple public relations statements declared that they would not be allowed to enter until an amicable solution is reached?
Why are our women still fighting like Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was shot by Taliban terrorists for standing up for her rights? Why were our women beaten and injured on this International Women's Day, just as the Taliban subjugates women and suppresses empowerment? Why did our soldiers kill our brave souls?
The systematic killings and beatings we have endured are beyond comprehension, but we will never give up until justice is served and our demands are tabled in Parliament. We have a pertinent question: Did you foresee today's incident when AFSPA was imposed in outer Manipur, a region that remained calm and peaceful until it was disturbed by invaders—unlike Imphal Valley, where the Arambai Tenggol government overthrew the state government? Why is Imphal Valley not under AFSPA, while peaceful Kuki regions are? This raises serious concerns about how our people are treated like stepchildren. It would be a matter of great importance for us to hear a direct answer—are we lesser Indians?

EULOGY TO OUR FALLEN HEROES
> *S/o Pu Sehkholen Singsit*, KMC Ward No. 2, Sharon Veng, Sadar Hills
*Cause of Death:*
> Shot by a bullet
- In continuity of the ethnic conflagration that gripped the state for 22 months, Mr. Sehkholen became yet another victim of the tyranny against the Kuki-Zos. He succumbed to death in the afternoon of 8th March, 2025.
- Driven by a burning impulse to resist the despotism thrusted upon us by the Central government in the name of *Free Movement*, he was brutally shot dead by the combined State and Central Forces today.
- This act of resistance at the expense of taking a bullet, lathis, tear gas shells, testifies the mutual angst of the Kuki-Zos towards a *peace* forged upon a flagrant disregard of our demands, our segregation and silencing of voices.
- As seemed fitting only for a selfless martyr who stood in defence of our ancestral land and freedom, may his sacrifice be a clarion call to remind us of our aspiration for a geographical demarcation and why our existence hinges entirely upon our sovereignty.
*_May his soul rest in peace!_*

The government's imposition of peace through coercion exposes its indifference to the ongoing crisis in Manipur and its deliberate neglect of the suffering of the Kuki-Zo community. The targeted violence, state-sponsored oppression, and continued atrocities against innocent civilians must come to an end.
Since May 3, 2023, the state has been divided not only by geography b

The office of the Zomi Students' Federation General Headquarters (ZSF-GHQ) condemns in the strongest terms the recent fallouts of the Government's ill-advised 'Free Movement Initiative'.
The ill-advised 'Free Movement Initiative' at a time of intense communal tensions and in the absence of negotiations for a political solution for the 'Zo' people (Zomi-Kuki-Hmar) has resulted in the death of one youth, Lalgouthang Singsit of Keithelmanbi while two youths have sustained severe injuries and remain in critical condition. Furthermore, over fifty women have sustained injuries. All of those deaths and injuries have occurred at the hands of Security Forces.
The ill-advised 'Free Movement Initiative' has spawned a deep sense that peace is being sought to be imposed and that an attempt is being made to undermine all that the 'Zo' people have sacrificed till date for a political solution.
The unrest today has resulted from the realisation that a picture of normalcy is being sought to be framed all while ignoring our unwavering resolve for a political solution.

However, Chinland government's Chief Minister, U Pa Thang, confirmed that he firmly declined the proposal.
"We have a clear and firm decision—we, the Chin people, are one of the ethnic groups that founded Myanmar. We signed the Panglong Agreement alongside the Shan, Kachin, and Bamar. The idea that we would integrate with India just because our ethnic relatives live there is completely unfounded. We view ourselves as one of the founding ethnic groups of Myanmar and value the country accordingly. This is merely a propagandist perspective." U Pa Thang told 𝘔𝘪𝘻𝘻𝘪𝘮𝘢 𝘉𝘶𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘕𝘦𝘸𝘴. He further emphasized that their political roadmap is clearly outlined, aiming to implement a federal democratic system rather than seeking independence or confederation.
U Pa Thang also clarified that Myanmar and India are both sovereign nations, and their relations should not be influenced by the presence or absence of the military junta. "Chin people at the border may have family ties across nations, but we will handle political matters through the appropriate political channels. There should be no doubt that we are committed to staying within Myanmar," he added.
MP K. Vanlalvena's visit was a private program, and before crossing over to Myanmar on foot, he informed the Mizoram Governor and the Assam Rifles, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶 reported. After returning to New Delhi, he is expected to meet with India's Home Minister and External Minister to brief them on his visit.
"Those people living on the Myanmar side belong to the Mizo tribe. We are all the same tribes; sometimes they need us, and sometimes we also need them. Being brothers, I want to know if they have problems which we can solve, according to the willingness of the Indian government... I asked them to join India. The Myanmar government is almost gone; that's why all the Myanmar army has withdrawn. They could join the Indian Union if they want," the MP said.
In the past, the Chin government has coordinated with Mizoram officials to destroy confiscated narcotics, according to U Pa Thang.
Mizoram MP's visit came amid ongoing political tensions between the Chinland Council (CC) and the Chin Brotherhood (CB) over governance and military presence by the Arakan Army (AA) in Paletwa Township. According to reports, he urged both sides to avoid hostility and find common ground, as both are fighting against the junta.
"We may have disagreements, but we don't see AA as an enemy," U Pa Thang stated.
The Chinland government also reaffirmed its cooperation with Mizoram on law enforcement and border security.
Myanmar shares a 1,643-kilometer border with India, which passes along the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram. Since the 2021 coup, over 50,000 Myanmar nationals have been taking refuge in Mizoram.
On February 29, MP K. Vanlalvena also visited Paletwa Township, an area controlled by the Arakan Army (AA), to inspect the progress of India's Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project..

WORLD KUKI ZO COUNCIL: CONDEMNATION
Date : 08/03/2025
PRESS RELEASE
The recent actions of the state government to send Meitei people into Kuki-Zo areas, despite ample warnings against such movements, have escalated tensions in the region. Violent confrontations have erupted in numerous locations, primarily between security forces escorting the buses and the protesters. This alarming situation has led to the death of Mr. Lalgun Singsit of Keithelmanbi and significant injuries among women participating in these demonstrations. At least one individual has been confirmed dead from gunfire by security forces while two others are hospitalized in critical condition, raising significant concerns about the use of force in this context. Moreover, over 50 women have suffered serious injuries, highlighting security forces' excesses on the community. The security personnel employed forceful measures, which has only intensified the protesters' resolve.
The Kuki-Zo Council has expressed strong condemnation of this decision of the government to impose "free movement", as the government was fully aware of the potential for violence if such a decision is put into action. The Kuki-Zo women, who rallied in opposition, demonstrated the gravity of the situation and the community's profound concerns. The government's decision reflects a lack of sensitivity towards the ongoing conflict and the heightened emotions of the Kuki-Zo people.
The Kuki-Zo Council firmly emphasizes that while the idea of peace is indeed welcomed by all, it cannot be achieved through the imposition of force at the expense of a particular community. Real peace is built on mutual respect and understanding. Forcing peace upon unwilling parties can lead to resentment and further conflict, undermining the very goal of harmony. A sustainable peace must be fostered through careful consideration of the interest and aspiration of the affected community.
Therefore, it is crucial for the central government to address the underlying issues to prevent further unrest and protect public safety. The Kuki-Zo Council urges the government to reconsider its stance to avoid further escalation of tension and violent confrontation.
Furthermore, in light of the resolutions passed during the emergency meeting today, an INDEFINITE SHUTDOWN has been declared across all Kuki-Zo areas, effective immediately from midnight of 08/03/2025, and the "Free Movement" initiative of the government will be staunchly opposed until a political solution for the Kuki-Zo community is reached for lasting peace in the region. The KZC cannot guarantee free movement of Meiteis across buffer zones and cannot take responsibility for any untoward incidents.

Amit Shah’s Miscalculated Move: How an Empty Bus Sparked Unrest in Manipur
March 8, 2025—International Women’s Day. A day meant to celebrate and honor women around the world. But in Kangpokpi district, it became a day of violence and anguish. More than 20 Kuki women, along with a few men, were brutally assaulted by security forces. Their crime? Protesting against Amit Shah’s bizarre decision to push an empty bus through their region under heavy security.
For the past 21 months, Amit Shah watched Manipur burn. He stayed silent while ethnic tensions spiraled out of control, while homes were set on fire, and while innocent lives were lost. He did nothing when Kukis were lynched, butchered, and driven out of Imphal.
But suddenly, after Biren Singh was forced out and President’s Rule was imposed, Shah decided to act. Not out of concern for Manipur’s people, but out of political desperation—to fix the BJP’s position in the state.
But instead of bringing peace, he made things worse.
The National Highway (NH-2) was always open for transport. Trucks carried goods, private vehicles moved freely, and thousands of commuters traveled without disruption. The only ones avoiding it were Meiteis—out of fear of facing the same horrors they inflicted on Kukis in Imphal.
So why did Amit Shah order an MST bus—completely empty—to be forcefully driven through Kuki areas under heavy security?
If the bus had Meitei passengers, one could at least understand the need for security. But this? This was nothing more than an arrogant show of power, a manufactured crisis that served no real purpose.
Unwarranted Move
Amit Shah’s decision wasn’t about restoring peace—it was about restoring BJP’s control in Manipur. After Biren Singh’s removal, the party needed a quick fix, and this bus stunt was meant to stage an illusion of “normalcy.” But instead of calming tensions, it inflamed them.
What was the need to push an empty bus through a volatile zone? Even Meitei organizations like FOCS struggled to convince their own people to join the convoy, and the security forces themselves advised against the plan. When the bus ultimately went through with no passengers, it became clear—this wasn’t about transportation. It was about showing dominance over Kuki areas.
This kind of arrogance does nothing but deepen the divide.
Was Amit Shah misled by Meitei hardliners, or is he actively siding with them? Biren Singh had twice attempted to force MST buses through the buffer zone—created by Shah himself—but failed. Now, with Biren gone, Shah seems to be following the same script.
How exactly does pushing MST buses—an already loss-making government service—bring peace? Was this a setup to frame Kukis as “anti-government” and justify a harsher crackdown?
The real tragedy unfolded when security forces turned their guns and batons on peaceful Kuki women. On a day dedicated to women’s rights, these women were thrashed, humiliated, and injured—for standing up against an unjustified military-backed operation.
Was this Amit Shah’s idea of peace? Sending troops to brutalize women protesting against his reckless decisions?
This entire operation raises serious questions:
Was this meant to provoke the Kukis into reacting, so the government could justify more repression?
Was it a staged performance to show that the central government was “restoring order” in Manipur?
Or was Amit Shah simply trying to project power in a state where BJP’s influence is slipping?
Amit Shah has made a grave miscalculation. Instead of healing Manipur, he has only deepened the wounds. Instead of fostering peace, he has fueled more anger.
The message is clear: his priorities are not about justice, fairness, or reconciliation. They are about control.
But the people of Manipur, especially the Kukis, are not pawns in his political game. And they deserve better.
