March 14, 2025: A statement by 饾悎饾惂饾悵饾悽饾悮 饾悈饾惃饾惈 饾悓饾惒饾悮饾惂饾惁饾悮饾惈 has highlighted the worsening plight of Myanmar refugees in India, who face increasing arrests, prolonged detention, and forced deportations. The movement condemns the actions of Indian state authorities, particularly in Manipur and Assam, where over 250 refugees have been imprisoned and many forcibly sent back to Myanmar despite ongoing violence.

The statement also raises concerns over threats to religious freedom, as police raids on churches in New Delhi have targeted Myanmar refugees. While Mizoram has provided support, refugees in other states continue to live in fear. India For Myanmar urges the Indian government to halt deportations and uphold its humanitarian obligations, warning that continued complicity with Myanmar's military junta exacerbates the crisis.

IN MEMORY OF PU S WALUNGLUA AIMOL

Manipur, April 28, 2020 -- Pu Walunglua Aimol @Manglun was gunned down by NSCN IM cadres on 22nd August, 2015.

The reason being that he refused to admit that Aimols are Kacha Nagas.

Using such tactics, NSCN IM has managed to intimidate some helpless Aimol tribals(Not even 5%) and forced them to proclaim Aimol Tribe as Kaccha Naga tribe.

Many other Kuki tribes known as Old Kuki Tribes of Chandel District have been forcefully assimilated into Kaccha Naga fold likewise.

The Memorial stone of beloved and true Aimol son Pu (L) Walunglua Aimol was erected on 27 May 2017.

THE CURIOUS KUKI pays tribute to a true son of the soil Pu. Walunglua Aimol, a true TAHCHAPA!

KUKI-ZO COUNCIL: PRESS RELEASE

Press Release
Lamka, the 13th March 2025

It is with great solemnity and profound respect that we announce the martyrdom of our beloved brother, Lalgouthang Singsit, who has sacrificed his life for the cause of our people. His death, a heroic and noble act, has solidified his place in our history as a martyr, whose courage and commitment to our cause will forever be etched in the hearts of the Kuki-Zo community. Today, he is gloriously laid to rest at the Kuki-Zo Martyr Cemetery in Phaijang, Sadar Hills. His martyrdom will not go in vain, and we pledge to continue the struggle for justice and dignity on behalf of all Kuki-Zo people.

Furthermore, we would like to officially announce the lifting of the indefinite shutdown previously called by the Kuki-Zo Council W.e.f 07:30 PM of 13th March 2025. The decision to end the shutdown comes after careful deliberation. However, it is imperative to make it clear that while the shutdown has been lifted, the Free Movement, as announced by the Home Ministry shall be vehemently opposed by the Kuki-Zo people, as it undermines and dilutes the justice process.

Until justice is duly served for the Kuki-Zo people, any move toward unrestricted free movement will be vigorously opposed. The Kuki-Zo Council remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that the sacrifices of our martyrs, including Lalgouthang Singsit, are honored through the achievement of rightful justice for the Kuki-Zo people -a separate political administration to ensure justice, peace and progress for our people.

We call on all relevant authorities to recognize and respect our legitimate demands, and to work towards a peaceful resolution that will bring justice and security to the Kuki-Zo people.

馃搷Even after the impose of President's rule in the state of Manipur with an aim to get back thousands of looted sophisticated weapons from state police armoury,  Meitei militia Arambai Tenggol leaders could be seen till today moving freely with armed body guard in public places.

This shows how the Head of the State, His Majesty and & the central forces have failed to use equal measuring rod to  both the tribal Kuki-people  and to the Majoritarian community of the valley in Manipur.

Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (VVEZ) Completes 8th Batch of Training, Reaffirms Demand for Separate Administration

Gamnom, Chandel District, March 12, 2025

The Village Volunteers Eastern Zone (VVEZ) successfully concluded its 8th batch of training on March 12, 2025, at Gamnom, Chandel District.

VVEZ urges all Kuki/Zo village volunteers and the broader community to stand united in our collective demand for a separate administration/Union Territory with legislative powers for the Kuki/Zo people.

We also take this opportunity to clarify misleading reports regarding alleged heavy firing between security forces and VVEZ at the Laijang camp. VVEZ does not operate from a fixed camp; rather, we function across various villages within the eastern region of Kukiland. At this stage, we have no intention of engaging in conflict with central forces. Our focus remains firmly on achieving our demand for separate administration through rightful and determined means.

As we have consistently stated, we will not lay down our arms until our demand is met. We call upon the central government to address our demand at the earliest.

IMPORTANCE OF REFERENDUM IN DEMAND FOR KUKI UNION TERRITORY

The formation of Nagaland as a state was a direct outcome of the Naga Plebiscite, a historic exercise that proved the collective will of the Naga people. Similarly, in the face of ongoing violence and oppression in Manipur, a REFERENDUM is not just relevant but crucial in the Kuki people's demand for a Union Territory. It is a democratic tool that will reflect the true aspirations of our people and establish a legitimate record of our collective will.

A referendum would be a defining moment in our history, an event that New Delhi cannot ignore. It will not only solidify our demands but also serve as an awakening for our people. It will:

1. Create Historical Legitimacy – Just as plebiscites and referendums have shaped the fates of nations and states worldwide, a referendum will provide concrete proof that the demand for a Union Territory is the will of the people. Once documented, it will serve as an undeniable record of our struggle for political autonomy.

2. Challenge New Delhi's Silence – The GoI may reject our referendum, but once the world sees the results, it will expose New Delhi's neglect and refusal to address our grievances. It will place immense pressure on the central government to acknowledge our aspirations.

3. Internationalize Our Struggle – A referendum will bring global attention to our demand, drawing the focus of international organizations, human rights groups, and media outlets. The world will see the systematic oppression we have endured, and it will become harder for New Delhi to suppress our voices without scrutiny.

4. Mobilize the Kuki People – It will serve as a catalyst for nationalism, uniting our people under a common political goal. A referendum will strengthen our identity and remind every Kuki that the fight for a Union Territory is not just a political demand but a struggle for survival and dignity.

Referendum as a Tool of Self-Determination:

In today's world, referendums are recognized as legitimate expressions of people's will. From Scotland's independence vote to Brexit, such democratic exercises have shaped political landscapes. By holding our own referendum, we reclaim our right to self-determination. If the GoI continues to deny our demand even after a democratic referendum, it will prove that they have abandoned democratic principles. At that point, any course of action we take becomes justified as a response to their failure to recognize our rights.

Ignoring a referendum would expose New Delhi to criticism from all sides—from human rights organizations, international legal bodies, and democratic nations. The world will see that the Indian state is unwilling to respect democratic aspirations, further strengthening our case.

The Inevitable Path Forward:

For the Kuki people, a Union Territory is not just a political aspiration—it is a necessity for survival, security, and self-governance. If India claims to be the world's largest democracy, it must listen to the people. A referendum will prove beyond any doubt that the Kukis seek a separate political future, and once the world sees this truth, New Delhi's denial will carry consequences.

If the GoI continues to ignore us even after we have exercised our democratic right, then the burden of any future conflict will rest solely on them. Our demand is just, our cause is legitimate, and through a referendum, history will be on our side.
