EULOGY to Our Fallen Hero: Lammang Kipgen (44 Yrs)

 EULOGY to Our Fallen Hero
-----------
LAMMANG KIPGEN (44 years)
(05.03.1980-28.04.2024)

beloved Husband of Nu Nengneilhing Kipgen

> S/o  Pu (L) Lhunlet Kipgen and Pi (L) Lhingkim Kipgen of L. Molsang Village, Saitu Gamphazol Subdivision, Sadar Hills

- Mr. Lammang, a man of admirable character and grit, a doting father to 5 children – 2 sons and 3 daughters, had all the familial prosperity a man could hope for, with every reason to abstain from risking his life. But, he volunteered to defend one of the most volatile frontlines.

- On 28th April, the enemy unleashed incessant attacks at Leimakhong area raining bullets on Pu Lammang Kipgen and his village volunteer friends. At around 2:30 am Pu Lammang got hit by bullets and he attained martyrdom.

- In all the likeness of a martyr, he will be buried at Martyrs’ Cemetery, Phaijang on 28th April, 2024.

- No man embarks on a war zone wishing to become a fallen hero and to leave behind his cherished family, but the love of one’s tribesmen and a fervent patriotic zeal propels him towards battlefronts.

- Our martyr, Pu Lammang, was one such man whose unswerving love for his tribesmen uprooted his life, making him join the legion of martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of our ancestral land and freedom.

- We will remain indebted by his sacrifice towards our voyage to a sovereign Kukiland.
May his soul rest in eternal peace!

First Thangkhal IAS: Carolyn Chingthianmawi Makes Historic Achievement

It was a moment of great joy for the lesser-known Thangkhal community of Manipur when a young woman from their tribe cleared the IAS exams.

For the first time in Thangkhal history, Miss Carolyn Chingthianmawi secured a rank (AIR 453) in the Civil Services Exam 2023. She is believed to be the first tribal woman from the state to directly join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

She did not take any coaching or go outside Lamka for her UPSC preparation. She is also the first person from Lamka to clear the IAS exam without coaching, studying entirely from home.

She is the third among four children (two elder brothers and one younger sister) born to Mr T. Pauminlianthang and Mrs Lamneikim.

Mr Pauminlianthang is a well-known social worker. He once served as president of both the Thangkhal Tribe Organisation (TTO) and the Thangkhal Sinlai Pawlpi (students’ union).

Her mother also served the community by representing Thangkhal women in the Zomi Mothers’ Association (ZMA).

Carolyn disciplined herself and studied 9–10 hours a day. Even on Sundays, which are usually busy for Christians, she never skipped studying. She still managed to study 2–3 hours every Sunday.

She completed her entire schooling in Lamka:

After Class XII, she cleared the CA Proficiency Test and went to Shillong for her CA Intermediate course. But due to health issues, she could not continue. Her first dream was shattered, but with strong determination she pursued BCom and later set her heart on becoming an IAS officer. And today, she has achieved it.

Carolyn is calm, soft-spoken, intelligent, and a good Christian. She loves singing and has served many times in church worship.

Her parents were moved to tears when the good news spread across the state. Her father said, “God has answered our prayers after many years, even the prayers we had forgotten.”

This year’s UPSC results also include three other tribal candidates from Manipur:

Miss Chinzoukim Zou – IPS (Indian Police Service)

Mr S. Christopher Aimol – IRS (Indian Revenue Service)

Mr Dominic Sominthang Haokip – Indian Trade Service (ITS)

Thangkhal Sinlai Pawlpi (TSP GHQ) expressed their happiness at her success and wished her good health, and that she remains faithful to God while serving the government and the people.”

Leaders from the Thangkhal Baptist Church have visited her home to felicitate her on this historic achievement. The Thangkhal community wishes her all the very best as she serves the government and works for the upliftment of her people and her roots, for the glory of God.

Leaders of the Thangkhal Baptist Church

The community once again expressed gratitude to God for giving her such success—something only a few are able to achieve. Every year, they hold a Fasting Prayer at Mount Kulhvum (near Mulam Hills, their earliest settlement) in January, February, or March, seeking God’s blessing.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3

Kuki Inpi Manipur appeals Govt of India

Appeal for Government of India’s Immediate Intervention and Impartial Investigation over
the incessant Attack on Kuki-Zo Tribal dominated Areas.
Lamka, the 25th April, 2024

04/KIM/PR./22-50:
Kuki Inpi Manipur condemns the incessant attacks on Kuki-Zo villages and the recent attempt to disrupt the crucial economic lifeline of the state before the upcoming Lok  Sabha elections in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency by the combined forces of the valley-based insurgent groups, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and MP Sanajaoba’s private militias like Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun. Manipur is presently bedevilled by an abundance of security challenges that gnaw at the very soul of the nation’s existence as the attacks and killings  by Meitei terrorists with impunity have become daily occurrences even when the reportage is repetitively downplayed. Such attacks by these misfits is pervasive and have the potential to exacerbate Manipur precarious state of fragility and demonstrate highest level of insecurity in the  state and the government’s loss of its internal security mechanism due to its inaction on Meitei armed militias in the state.

By all accounts, Arambai Tenggol, Meitei Leepun and Meitei CSOs including COCOMI and
Meira Paibis who introduced the notion of ‘Narco-Terrorism’ and ‘Burmese illegal immigrant’ as
a pretext to justify the continuation of the state-sponsored ethnic cleansing against the minority
Kuki-Zo tribal Christians should be held accountable as the ongoing crisis in Manipur is all about
annihilation and grabbing of land belonging to minority community in the state. The impunity of
Meitei perpetrators who openly called for such annihilation and inaction of the state forces due to
communal bias and dilution of charges against such perpetrators is the main reason behind the
continuation of violence in Manipur. It is imperative for the sake of justice that all perpetrators
pertaining to the ongoing ethnic cleansing should be held accountable and brought to justice as per
the law of the land but invocation of ethnic or communal affiliations in criminal investigations
risks inflaming tensions and undermining the impartiality of law enforcement. Therefore, central
investigative agencies should investigate the issue and pursue justice based on evidence and legal
principles, not on ethnic or tribal lines which will further fuel the ongoing conflict.

Furthermore, government of India should ensure the safety and security of the minority
community by initiating legal action against CM N. Biren Singh and his cohorts and stop
embarking on communal agenda against tribals and immediately intervene and expedite the KukiZo tribals demand for ‘Separate Administration’ for lasting peace. Meitei terrorist groups should
curb the culture of hatred and religious discrimination and stop playing a victim card while
continuously provoking and attacking Kuki-Zo villages and refrain from disrupting the upcoming
Lok Sabha election in the hills.
