As I entered the flight ✈️ this morning 🌄, I was greeted very warmly, by the crew of Air India, who incidentally were from Manipur & recognised me the moment I walked in the aircraft, since I cover North East part of India widely on Television 📺.
I was particularly happy to see professionally Meiteis & Kuki's working & cooperating so well with each other. I have always maintained people from the North East part of India are very hospitable, cultured, principled, honest, people of their word, hard working, disciplined.
Few of my best friends are all from the North East part of India. May peace, progress & normalcy come to Manipur soon...Jai Hind !!!

OBITUARY
With hearts full of grief yet anchored in the hope of eternity, we share with deep sorrow the passing of Mrs. Chinkhoneng, who received her heavenly call on the morning of 26th August 2025 after a prolonged illness.
She was a woman of faith, grace, and quiet strength. During her teenage days, she was a gifted singer, actively participating in church activities and lifting her voice in songs of praise to glorify God and inspire others.
She now rests in the arms of her Saviour, reunited with her late husband (who passed away on 13th May 2025) and her mother-in-law, who went before her. She leaves behind her beloved children—her young son (about 10 years old) and her daughter, who is soon to embrace motherhood—as well as her elderly father-in-law.
In this time of deep loss, we console the bereaved family with the comforting words of Scripture: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18).
May the Lord, who heals all wounds, strengthen the family in their sorrow and grant them peace that surpasses all understanding. Her earthly journey may have ended, but her light and her song will continue to shine through the lives of those she loved and touched.

PRESS COMMUNIQUE
Zeliangrong United Front Strongly Condemns the Brutal Murder of Sister Kesuthlungle Newme Vows Relentless Pursuit of Justice. The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) expresses its strongest condemnation and deepest outrage over the brutal, pre-planned, and cold-blooded killing of our beloved sister and mother, Kesuthlungle Newme (31), near the NSCN-IM Martyrs Park at Pimla Village on the 7th of April. This inhuman and barbaric act has not only taken away the life of an innocent woman but has deeply wounded the collective conscience of the Zeliangrong community.
The ZUF considers this crime as an act of utmost cowardice and a direct challenge to the dignity and security of our people. The perpetrators have committed a heinous crime against humanity and cannot be allowed to roam free under the sky of Zeliangrong land.
ZUF issues a final and stern warning to all individuals, directly or indirectly involved in this conspiracy and killing, to surrender immediately before the ZUF Court within the shortest possible time. Failure to comply will result in ZUF deploying every possible means to trace, expose, and capture the murderers. There will be no safe haven, no hiding place, and no protection for the guilty ZUF will pursue them relentlessly until justice is delivered.
This is not a mere statement; it is a solemn commitment to our people. The blood of our sister shall not be in vain. Justice for Kesuthlungle is not negotiable it is inevitable.
Despite repeated appeals by various Zeliangrong civil organizations to the State Government and law enforcement agencies to uphold the law of the land and arrest the culprits, their persistent silence and failure to act reflect an alarming breakdown of justice. This negligence is a betrayal of public trust and an insult to the voice of the people. The authorities have ignored the cries of the masses for far too long, forcing us to remind them that justice delayed is justice denied.
Let it be clearly understood that the people’s voice is supreme above all institutions, whether government or private. If the law of the land continues to remain blind and deaf to the demands of justice, the people’s law will prevail. ZUF will not hesitate to exercise its authority to safeguard the dignity and security of our community.
To all organizations, leaders, and right-thinking citizens: unite in solidarity for justice. This is not just about one life lost; this is about ensuring that no such barbaric act ever occurs again in our land. Silence in the face of injustice is complicity.
The Zeliangrong United Front stands committed to truth, justice, and the protection of our people. Let the guilty be warned the sword of justice is above their heads.

PRESS RELEASE
26/08/2025
The report highlights with clarity how the absence of reliable and independent media outlets in the minority Kuki community has allowed one-sided narratives to dominate public discourse. It documents the silences and distortions that have shaped perceptions, while carefully situating these within the lived realities of those who have suffered displacement, discrimination, and targeted attacks.
Importantly, the PUCL’s findings do not stand in isolation. They substantiate and build upon previous efforts, including the Editors Guild of India’s report, and resonate with observations made in multiple hearings before the Supreme Court of India. In cases such as Lhunthongam v. State of Manipur & Anr., the Court itself made the remarkable observation that it “does not trust the state government of Manipur”. PUCL’s meticulous documentation therefore reinforces a pattern already acknowledged by other independent bodies and by the judiciary itself.
KOHUR believes that this extensive report has once again set the record straight. It provides not only an invaluable account of the causes and consequences of the violence, but also a benchmark for future reference. The courage demonstrated by PUCL in compiling and publishing this report under difficult circumstances reflects the very essence of civil liberties work — standing with the vulnerable, exposing injustice, and holding institutions accountable.
The Kuki Organization for Human Rights Trust commends PUCL for its unwavering commitment to truth and justice. This report will remain a significant contribution to the historical and legal record of the Ethnic Cleansing, and it will serve as an essential resource for all those seeking accountability and reconciliation.

New Delhi, August 25, 2025 — In a landmark achievement for the Gangte community, Pu Ngulkham Jathom Gangte, a 1994-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has been promoted to the prestigious Secretary-rank in Level 17 of the Pay Matrix. The promotion was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions.
With this elevation, Pu NJ Gangte becomes the first Gangte to attain Secretary-level status in the Government of India, marking a historic milestone in the community’s journey within national governance. He currently serves as Chairman of the Gangte Officers’ Forum (GOF).
Pu Gangte completed his schooling at Don Bosco, Churachandpur, and graduated with Honours in Chemistry from Hansraj College, University of Delhi, in 1990. His rise through the ranks of Indian diplomacy has been widely celebrated as a symbol of perseverance, excellence, and community pride.
The Gangte community and well-wishers across the country have hailed the achievement as a moment of immense inspiration, especially for youth aspiring to serve the nation through civil services.
This outstanding victory is not only a personal milestone for Mr. Sana Mate and his proud family, but also a moment of immense inspiration and encouragement for the entire Kuki community. His dedication, discipline, and perseverance in the field of sports embody the true spirit of hard work and excellence.
Amidst the ongoing hardships and challenges faced by our people, such accomplishments stand as a beacon of hope and a reminder that the Kuki community continues to nurture young talents capable of shining at the national and international stage. His success in the boxing arena is a testimony to the fact that determination and resilience can triumph even in the most trying of times.
The KSOD earnestly prays and firmly believes that this victory is only the beginning of many more laurels to come. Wish him a bright future filled with success, honor, and glory.
With warm regards,
Shillong, August 25, 2025 — In a significant development for the Thadou community in Meghalaya, a meeting convened on August 24, 2025, led by the Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), resulted in the formation of two key institutions aimed at strengthening ethnic identity and religious unity.
Held in Shillong, the gathering brought together Thadou residents from across Meghalaya. After extensive deliberations, the community unanimously resolved to establish the Thadou Inpi Meghalaya (TI-ML) as the apex civil body representing Thadous in the state. Pu Helun Thadou was elected as Interim Convenor, alongside five other members.
In recognition of the community’s predominantly Christian faith, the meeting also announced the formation of the Thadou Christian Church, Shillong, a distinct platform for Thadou Christians to worship. Pu T. Thadou was named Interim Convenor, supported by four additional members.
Delegates further resolved that all Thadou individuals in Meghalaya should formally dissociate from Kuki-affiliated groups and extend full cooperation to the newly constituted TI-ML and Thadou Christian Church.
The resolutions were issued in the public interest and signed by Manggou Thadou, Joint General Secretary of Thadou Inpi Manipur.
A statement reaffirming the community’s ethnic distinction was also reiterated:
“Thadou is a distinct ethnic group of people. Thadou is not Kuki, or underneath Kuki, or part of Kuki, but a separate, independent entity from Kuki. Any organisation that incorporates ‘Thadou’ but espouses Kuki and mis-portrays Thadou as Kuki or a part of Kuki is illegitimate and does not represent Thadou people and interest.” — Thadou Convention 2024.
Lamka, August 25, 2025 — The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has welcomed the findings of the Independent People’s Tribunal on the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur, conducted by the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) and chaired by former Supreme Court Judge Justice Kurian Joseph.
The tribunal, released on August 20, 2025, has been described as the most comprehensive documentation of the tragedy that began on May 3, 2023, and continues to affect the state. The KZC praised PUCL for giving voice to victims and survivors at a time when, it said, “narratives are often distorted or silenced.”
The statement released by the Kuki-Zo Council urged every Indian citizen to carefully read the PUCL report, stressing that the conflict is not merely a local issue but a question of justice, equality, and constitutional rights in the world’s largest democracy.
The statement also noted that the divide between the Meiteis in the valley and the Kuki-Zo in the hills is now “undeniable and irreversible,” adding that forcing both groups under one administration would only fuel further hostility.
It further called on the Government of India to act with “moral courage and political clarity” by granting a separate administration for the Kuki-Zo people within the Indian Union, which it said is the only way to restore peace, dignity, and justice.
The statement was released by Ginza Vualzong, Secretary of Information & Publicity, Kuki-Zo Council.
