New Delhi, Jan 02, 2018: The family of a 24-year-old Manipuri woman, Mutey (name changed), who was found dead in her rented room in Munirka, South Delhi, on November 9, 2017, is still waiting for answers. Despite repeated appeals, police have provided no updates on the case, raising concerns of negligence and delay in justice.
According to records, Mutey’s body was discovered at House No. 214, Room No. 2B, Second Floor, Munirka, and buried the next day at the Dwarka Christian Cemetery. She had been living with an Assamese man, Sparshan Mahanta, since April 2016. After her death, Mahanta allegedly went missing and remains untraceable.
The two had previously worked together in a BPO, but Mutey left her job due to poor health. Her family alleges that Mahanta neglected her medical needs and failed to provide proper care, contributing to her death. They also claim he confiscated her identity documents, educational certificates, and mobile phone.
A key witness, the house owner, stated that when Mutey was found, the ceiling fan was running and the door was locked from outside without a key. The family insists Mahanta should be interrogated, his phone numbers traced, and his movements investigated.
Police records name SI Deepchand of Vasant Vihar Police Station as the Investigating Officer. However, there has been no progress in locating Mahanta or pursuing leads, despite the family providing his mobile numbers and Facebook details indicating his employment as a Senior Tech Sales Manager at Infinity Geeks Solution.

The deceased, originally from Lamka, Manipur, came from a poor family. Her elder sister, who identified the body along with family friend Bruce K. Thangkhal (Media Incharge of North East Support Centre & Helpline, Delhi) is illiterate and survives on meagre earnings in Delhi.
The family has appealed to the Special Police Unit for North-Eastern Region (SPUNER) to intervene and ensure justice is served.

and Muvanlai FC Eliminate in Semi-finals
New Delhi, Nov 30, 2017 – In
an intense semifinal of the 11th ONGC North-East Tamchon Football Tournament
2017, defending champions Hmar FC were defeated by Zeliangrong FC with a score
of 1-0, and Muvanlai Athletics were edged out by Hornbill FC, also 1-0, at the
Dr Ambedkar Stadium on Thursday evening (Nov 30).
The
semifinal between Hmar FC and Zeliangrong FC proved to be a dramatic encounter.
Unfortunately for Hmar, an own goal in the 23rd minute from their stopper, who
inadvertently sent the ball into his own net while trying to defend, gave
Zeliangrong the lead. Despite relentless efforts from Hmar to equalize, they
couldn’t find the back of the net. Zeliangrong, on the other hand, did not
extend their lead further. Both teams received one yellow card each during the
match.
This
loss adds to Hmar's two previous defeats in finals against Zeliangrong in 2008
and 2012. Zeliangrong, meanwhile, had lost to Muvanlai in last year's final.
In
the second semifinal, Hornbill FC emerged victorious against Muvanlai Athletics
with a 1-0 win. Hornbill's striker, Hemta, scored the only goal of the match in
the 42nd minute, turning a well-placed pass into the goal. The match was highly
charged with excitement and intense fan support for both teams. Muvanlai came
close to scoring twice in the first half, but their shots were either blocked
by the goalkeeper or hit the goalpost. Hornbill also had several attempts but
couldn't convert them into goals.
As
the final match approaches on December 2, Hmar FC will face Muvanlai FC for the
third-place title at 2:00 PM, while Zeliangrong FC will battle Hornbill FC for
the coveted Tamchon Trophy.
The
winners will receive a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5 Lakhs, while the
runners-up will take home Rs 3 Lakhs. The third-place winners will earn Rs 2
Lakhs, and the quarter-finalists will each receive Rs 25,000.

NEW DELHI, NOV 28, 2017: The Muvanlai Athletics thrashed Bodo FC 6-1 in the 4th quarter-final match and Hornbill FC defeated Indian Air Force by 2-0 in the 3rd quarter final match of the ongoing 11th ONGC North East Tamchon Football Tournament 2017 here in Dr Ambedkar Stadium on Tuesday (November 28).
In the match between Muvanlai FC and Bodo FC, Mr Bedeenpar opened the score for Muvanlai in the 19th minute, which was equalized by Mr Dilip of Bodo FC in the 28th minute. Though the two team locked horns tightly throughout the 1st half, no further scoring happen.
Muvanlai players began advancing towards the Bodo side soon after 2nd half. Within 10 minutes, Muvanlai striker Seiminmang earned the Hat-tricks -- one goal in 66th, another in 68th, and again in 72nd minute. After 4 minutes ago, Bedeenpar again netted the ball in 76th minute, and followed by Liengousang in the 79th minute. Seiminmang, whose first appearances in this tournament, has now earned a feathery cap of seven goals.
Bodo boys pulled up their sleeves strengthening their positions but could not turn into reality. However their goalie saved two possible goal-attempts from the wingers of Muvanlai.
In the second match, the Hornbill FC locked horns with Indian Air Force, the crowd expectation gradually faded away when the Hornbill boys dominated the play from the very beginning. The Hornbills has tactical skills and good in passing-off the ball, so much so that they often landed into the d-box of IAF. Mr Hemba opened account for Hornbill in the 8th minute.
There was an unfortunate moment for IAF boys. It was when one player of Muvanlai FC carried the ball upto the goalie, in trying to attempt away the goalie, he was slightly knocked down on the ground by the goalie. A yellow card and awarded penalty kick. Mr Akbar turned the penalty into goal in the 35th minute.
IAF boys tried hard in the 2nd half. They precisely missed two goals. The first was by the right winger, who forcefully kicked the ball from a short distance, but was blocked away by Muvanlai goalie. The second ball flew towards the goalie, from an indirect kicked from IAF, which was caught safely by the goalie. In yet another dangerously goal attempt by Hornbill FC, just nearby from the d-box of IAF side, the goalie of IAF dived and saved it. Till the end of fulltime no more ball longer rubs the goalnets.
On November 27, the Zeliangrong FC defeated Zogene FC by 2-1 in the 1st quater-final match, and Hmar FC defeated Sikkim by 3-1 in the 2nd quater-final match.
Hmar FC (Winner of 2013 & 2014), Zeliangrong FC (Winner of 2008 & 2012), Hornbill and Muvanlai FC (Winner of 2015 & 2016) entered the semi final.
Hmar FC will lock horns with Zeliangrong FC, while Hornbill FC will take on Muvanlai FC on 30 November 2017 at 10.30AM and 2:00PM.
The 3rd Place and Final Match will be held on 02 December 2017.
The winner will take away the Trophy alongwith the Cash prize of Rs 5 Lakhs, runnersup Rs 3 Lakhs, 3rd Place Rs 2 Lakhs and the quater finalist teams will received Rs 25,000 each.
The ṭournament was inaugurated by Shri Mukhtar Abbal Naqvi, Minister of Minority Affairs (GoI) in Dr B R Ambedkar Stadium on November 18, 2017. Delhi police commissioner Shri Amulya Patnaik also graced the opening ceremony.
NETFT began in 2007 which was organised by the Tangkhul Naga Society Delhi in memory of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Delhi, Mr Tamchon Raingam. Since then this tournament has been organised every year under the theme of "Unity, Friendship, Understand and Sportsmanship".

Two renowned theologians, Rev. Dr. Kh Khaizakham and Rev. RC Varte, served as the main speaker and resource person, respectively. Rev. Dr. Khaizakham, an accomplished evangelist and author of over 20 books, shared profound insights on Christian principles, urging participants to live a life rooted in righteousness and spiritual discipline. Despite having served as an evangelist for over 43 years and now aged 69, he expressed his desire to continue spreading the Gospel worldwide.
Rev. RC Varte, who began his ministry in 1976 following the death of his mother, provided inspiring reflections on personal loss, faith, and perseverance. Born in Haflong, Assam, Rev. Varte shared the story of his father's pastoral service in Khampat’s Kanan Veng between 1953 and 1956 — a place named by his father based on the biblical “Canaan.” Rev. Varte, now Superintendent of the Independent Church of India (ICI), New Delhi, also spoke emotionally about the early challenges of Christianity in remote regions.
The camp featured a structured program including Bible study, morning and evening sessions, group discussions, Q&A hours, and prayer meetings. Campers were divided into four groups—Moses, Abraham, Jacob, and Joshua—with the Moses group winning the Best Discipline award.
Throughout the camp, Rev. Dr. Khaizakham emphasized the importance of recognizing one’s spiritual “boundary line,” cautioning that stepping beyond can lead to hardship. In his farewell message, he encouraged the campers with the verse Joshua 24:15, while Rev. Varte challenged attendees to reflect on their spiritual beginnings by asking, “Where did we receive New Life?”
The camp was efficiently organized under the leadership of Camp Director and EOC Delhi pastor ST Robert. Local secretary Mr. Ginlalchung expressed heartfelt gratitude for the event’s success. Mr. Sonpi delivered the vote of thanks, and Mr. KC Lalboi presented the financial report. Mementos were also presented to both the speaker and resource person as tokens of appreciation.
The camp, though brief, left a lasting spiritual impact, equipping fathers with tools to become Christ-centered leaders in their homes.

According to the victims, the incident began when they refused food offered at a nearby eatery. A local man allegedly reacted aggressively, asking, "Why can’t you eat Rajasthani food?" The situation escalated when the male victim, identified as Mr. Leng, was pulled aside and strangled with a scarf by the same local individual.
The victims, both working at a school in the area, were left helpless after the attack. They attempted to contact the Northeast Helpline at 1093, but the line was unreachable, adding to their distress.
They are currently at Sujangarh Railway Station, awaiting their train to Delhi. Immediate intervention from authorities has been urged to ensure their safety and address the incident.

A JOINT REPRESENTATION SUBMITTED TO THE HON’BLE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA THROUGH THE DEPUTY COMMISSIONER, CHURACHANDPUR BY HMAR INPUI AND ZOMI COUNCIL ON 8 AUGUST, 2017 IN SUPPORT OF THE ON-GOING TRIPARTITE TALKS
Hon’ble Sir,
At the outset, the Hmar Inpui and Zomi Council and all its constituent civil society organisations (CSOs) would like to express our sincere gratitude to the NDA Government under your able leadership for your sincere efforts to bring a permanent political solution in Manipur.
It is encouraging to know that the Government of India, the Government of Manipur and the Suspension of Operation (SoO) groups in Manipur – namely, the United People’s Front (UPF) and Kuki National Organisation (KNO) will be sitting for the third round of tripartite talks on 9th August, 2017 in New Delhi. It is also immensely satisfying to note that the Union Government has appointed Shri Dineshwar Sharma, former Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB), as an interlocutor for SoO groups.
In this regard, may we draw your kind attention to the following points:
We firmly believe that the time has come to fulfil these promises and turn words into action.
The Hmar Inpui and Zomi Council would also like to reiterate that we fully support the on-going peaceful political dialogue and pray that it leads to an honourable, acceptable, durable and practical political solution for the tribal in the state of Manipur.
On behalf of the people and the tribes we represent, we plead your honour to kindly take up all possible steps for immediate political solution and pave the way for an era of peace and development.
