A St. Joseph College Jakhama (Autonomous) bus carrying around 20 students was involved in an accident near Kigwema village on Tuesday, resulting in injuries to most of the students on board. The incident occurred around 2 pm while the bus was returning to Kohima after school.
Around 20 students were injured in the accident.
6-7 students were initially taken to the Army Hospital, Zakhama, for first aid treatment.
The remaining students were rushed to Bethesda Hospital, where one male student is in serious condition.
According to the PRO, the cause of the accident is still unknown, and it is yet to be established whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
In a devastating turn of events, Mr. Thangjalam @ Tete Touthang (40 yrs), a victim of a brutal Meitei attack, has passed away in Dimapur hospital, Nagaland after a prolonged treatment.
Mr. Touthang was allegedly beaten by Meitei miscreants at his residence gate in New Lambulane, Imphal east, on the night of May 3, 2023. The attack left him with severe injuries, and despite undergoing medical treatment in Dimapur, he ultimately succumbed to his wounds.
May our brother's soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to those who knew and loved him. We pray for strength and comfort for his family during this difficult time.
