ITLF Exposes Forensic Discrepancies in Biren Singh Audio Tapes
Exposing Forensic Discrepancies in Biren Singh Audio Tapes — A Call for Justice
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) strongly condemns the glaring inconsistencies in the forensic examination of the audio tapes implicating former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in the ethnic violence against the Kuki-Zo community.
The National Forensic Science Laboratory’s (NFSL) recent statement to the Supreme Court—claiming it is “not in a position” to confirm the authenticity or identify the voice due to alleged tampering—is deeply troubling. Such evasion from a government-run institution raises serious concerns about bias and accountability in a case involving grave human rights violations.
In sharp contrast, Truth Labs, an independent and reputable forensic agency, conclusively identified a 93% voice match with Biren Singh. This scientific evidence remains unchallenged, except by government-controlled bodies seemingly serving political interests.
ITLF urges the Central Government to end its protection of Biren Singh and allow justice to prevail. The recordings clearly expose his complicity in the violence that killed and displaced countless Kuki-Zo people. Continued denial and contradictory reports only extend the trauma of the victims and obstruct the truth.
We reaffirm our faith in the Supreme Court to ensure an independent and transparent investigation free from political interference. ITLF stands firm with the Kuki-Zo people and calls upon all democratic institutions, the media, and civil society to uphold justice and accountability.
Justice delayed is justice denied — our people’s pain will not be silenced.

CENTRAL VILLAGE DEFENCE FORCE: PRESS COMMUNIQUE
The Central Village Defence Force (CVDF) expresses its profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences on the tragic demise of four members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), who lost their lives in an encounter with Security Forces at Khanpi Village, Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur District, Ma-nipur. May their souls rest in eternal peace and may the Almighty comfort and strengthen the bereaved families during this painful time.
As the mortal remains of the deceased are to be laid to rest tomorrow, the CVDF urges that the funeral proceedings be carried out smoothly and with due solemnity. Despite repeated announcements and the "Public Notification" issued by this office on 4th November, 2025 (Ref. No. Adm/CVDF/1/2023), it is unfortunate that the ITLF, vide file no.: ITLF-PN-202589 dated 5th Nov., 2025 has again declared a shutdown in Lamka Town.
The CVDF firmly states that such unilateral declarations are unacceptable and undermine our collective existence and operational jurisdiction. No bandh, shutdown or strike shall be imposed within our area of responsibility. Accord-ingly, all shops, offices and establishments are hereby advise to carry on their normal activities without fear or hesitation.

ITLF: CONDEMNATION & SOLIDARITY
The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) is deeply shocked and anguished by the brutal killing of four members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) by security forces in Khanpi, Henglep. According to reports, the four men were shot dead while they were asleep — a manner that can only be described as an act of cold-blooded execution.
While the Valley-Based Insurgent Groups (VBIGs) of the Meitei continue to operate with complete impunity, ITLF strongly condemns this selective and inhumane act perpetrated under the guise of security operations. This unprovoked and barbaric killing of our own people — executed without confrontation, without due process, and while they were asleep — is an appalling abuse of power and a direct assault on the rule of law. Such actions not only constitute a grave violation of human rights but also expose the deep-rooted bias and double standards within the state’s security apparatus.
It must be clearly stated that UKNA is not a terrorist organization, nor has it ever acted against the interests of the Indian nation or its security forces. Like other Kuki-Zo armed groups, UKNA has been part of the ongoing struggle for our people’s right to self-governance within the framework of India. To target them in this manner is not only unjustified but also reflects the continued misuse of power by the security forces in the hills of Manipur.
ITLF mourns the tragic loss of four of our brave sons — our own flesh and blood. Whether they were village volunteers or members of an armed group, they were all driven by the same aspiration: the pursuit of justice and the demand for a separate administration where our people can live in peace and dignity. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and stand in solidarity with them in this hour of grief.
Their untimely deaths will not be in vain. ITLF reaffirms that their sacrifices will continue to inspire our collective struggle for political recognition and lasting peace for the Kuki-Zo people.

United Zofate UK Condemns Violence in Manipur
Statement by United Zofate Community (Great Britain)
We, the United Zofate Community in Great Britain, are deeply saddened by the acts of violence towards our brothers and sisters in Manipur, India. Over a hundred churches were burned to the ground, over two thousand houses were destroyed, and tens of thousands of people are displaced. We strongly condemn this violence against our communities and our Christian faith, and we demand swift action so the perpetrators of the hideous crimes are brought to justice.
The ongoing mob violence supported by the State Government against the tribal community must stop. In order for this to end, President’s Rule must be imposed as the decision makers in the state are Meitei majority led by the Chief Minister, Mr N Biren Singh. Without President's Rule in Manipur, the tribal communities in Manipur will never be safe from ongoing attacks from the Meitei.
We call for the resignation of Mr N Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur, whose lack of leadership during such times of crisis and whose biased stance towards the tribal Christian people of Manipur has led to this point.
We also fully support the demand for “Separate Administration” for the region as proposed by the ten MLA signatories from Manipur Hill Areas in their letter to Mr Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister of India. We firmly stand together with our Tribal Christian brothers and sisters of Manipur State.

The Tragedy of Khanpi and the Politics of Selective Valor
By Putin Touthang
The UKNA is not a foreign militia. It is a manifestation of communal desperation—a response to abandonment, to the erosion of ancestral dignity, and to the state's chronic failure to protect its hill citizens. These men did not wield arms for conquest; they stood as sentinels in a landscape where Meitei militants from across the Myanmar border roam freely in Imphal and valley districts, unchallenged and unaccounted for.
The question is not whether the UKNA posed a threat. The question is why the Indian state reserves its sharpest blades for those who shield the marginalized, while turning a blind eye to those who prey upon them.
This is not an anomaly—it is a pattern. A pattern of selective enforcement, of ethnically skewed militarism, and of a state apparatus that treats hill resistance as criminality while normalizing valley aggression as political expression. The killing of these four UKNA cadres is not a tactical success—it is a moral failure. It is a declaration that the lives of Kuki defenders are expendable, that their sacrifices are unworthy of recognition, and that their deaths are mere footnotes in a narrative authored by power.
Let us interrogate the aftermath:
- Has this operation restored trust between the hills and the state?
- Has it quelled the trauma of displacement, erasure, and fear?
- Has it dignified the aspirations of a people who seek only safety and self-determination?
The answer is unequivocal. This act will not heal—it will haunt. It will not unify—it will fracture. The Indian Army may claim valor, but there is no heroism in hunting your own citizens without dialogue, without due process, and without historical understanding.
We do not romanticize violence. We honor courage—the courage to protect, to speak, to endure. The UKNA cadres who fell in Khanpi were not faceless insurgents. They were sons, brothers, and defenders of a community that refuses to be erased. Their deaths demand more than silence. They demand a reckoning.
If the Indian government seeks peace, let it begin with truth. Let it begin with dismantling the architecture of bias, with holding valley militants to the same standard, and with recognizing that security cannot be built on selective slaughter.
Until then, we will mourn. We will remember. And we will resist—with words, with dignity, and with the unyielding conviction that our legacy will not be buried beneath the boots of silence.

THE UNYIELDING SPIRIT OF THE KUKILAND
Gavriel K. Simte
Vice President
Kuki Human Rights Council
In the rugged terrain of Manipur, a story unfolds, one of resilience and resistance. The Indian Army's actions in Khanpi village, Churachandpur district, have left a community in mourning. Four lives lost, four families torn apart, and a people left to wonder if their lives matter.
The UKNA may be seen as insurgents by the state, but to the Kuki people, they are sons, brothers, and defenders of a community that refuses to be erased. Their deaths demand more than silence; they demand a reckoning.
The question is not whether the UKNA posed a threat; the question is why the Indian state reserves its sharpest blades for those who shield the marginalized, while turning a blind eye to those who prey upon them.
As we mourn the loss of these four lives, we also remember the countless others who have been affected by the conflict. We remember the displaced, the traumatized, and the forgotten.
The path to peace begins with truth. It begins with acknowledging the historical injustices, the biases, and the selective valor. It begins with holding those responsible accountable and working towards a future where every life is valued.
Until then, we will mourn, we will remember, and we will resist – with words, with dignity, and with the unyielding conviction that our legacy will not be buried beneath the boots of silence.
