KNA-B Urges Restraint Over Litan Village Violence
THE Kuki National Army–B (KNA-B) has expressed serious concern over the recent violence in Litan Sareikhong Village and appealed to both communities to exercise restraint and responsibility.
In a press release issued by the Office of the Kuki National Organisation (KNO), Government of Kuki State, General Headquarters, the group stated that the Litan incident should not be viewed as a communal conflict. According to KNA-B, the incident began as a scuffle between individuals and must not be misinterpreted or expanded beyond its local context.
The statement warned that any attempt to widen the issue into a broader ethnic confrontation would only deepen suffering and instability in the region.
KNA-B also expressed concern over what it described as an attempt to burn Chassad village along the Indo-Burma border, allegedly by Tangkhuls. The group stated that it would protect its people and ancestral land. It further noted that as Tangkhuls and Kukis live together even in Burma (Myanmar), peaceful relations would benefit both communities.
Calling for an immediate cessation of all acts of arson and hostilities, KNA-B urged Christian communities to remain cautious and avoid falling into what it termed "classic escalation traps" set by inimical forces.
The statement concluded by emphasizing that peace, restraint, and reason must prevail.

TMNL Urges Govt to Reconsider Internet Suspension in Ukhrul
Ukhrul, Feb 10, 2026: The Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL), Tangkhul Youth Council, has submitted a representation to the Manipur government seeking reconsideration or modification of the order imposing suspension or curbing of internet services in Ukhrul district.
In a memorandum dated February 10, addressed to the Chief Minister of Manipur through the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district, the TMNL expressed concern over the selective imposition of internet restrictions in Ukhrul alone. The order in question, bearing No. H-3607/4/2022-HD-HD, was issued on February 10, 2026.
The youth body stated that the prevailing unrest in Ukhrul district stems from a long-standing conflict between the Naga and Kuki communities and is not an isolated incident confined to one district. It pointed out that tensions and related activities have reportedly spread to adjoining districts such as Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, raising questions over the fairness of restricting internet services only in Ukhrul.
TMNL said the selective suspension has caused serious hardship to ordinary citizens, including students, patients, businesspersons, government employees, and others who depend on digital connectivity for education, communication, banking, healthcare coordination, and livelihood activities.
Highlighting the principle of fairness and equal treatment, the council argued that administrative measures aimed at maintaining law and order should be applied uniformly and proportionately across all affected areas. It warned that selective curtailment of digital access could lead to a sense of discrimination and may further aggravate tensions instead of easing them.
The council requested the competent authority to either withdraw, suspend, or review the internet restriction order insofar as it applies solely to Ukhrul district, or alternatively, ensure that any such preventive measures are implemented uniformly across all affected districts based on an objective assessment of ground realities.
TMNL also stressed that maintaining peace, harmony, and public confidence requires balanced administrative action that safeguards public safety while respecting the legitimate rights and daily needs of civilians. The organisation assured its full cooperation with the government in efforts to restore normalcy and lasting peace in the region.
AAI Recommends Full Refund for Cancelled Flights After Ukhrul Unrest
Imphal, Feb 10, 2026: The Airports Authority of India (AAI), Imphal International Airport, has recommended full refunds for airline tickets cancelled due to the prevailing law-and-order situation along the Imphal–Ukhrul route.
In an official communication dated February 10, the Airport Director of Imphal International Airport informed airlines including IndiGo, Air India Express, SpiceJet, and Alliance Air about the disruption caused by a serious incident of violence and arson at Litan village on the night of February 8, 2026.
According to the letter, the incident led to the closure of the Ukhrul–Imphal highway, severely affecting surface transportation. As a result, several passengers from Ukhrul and nearby areas were unable to reach Imphal International Airport in time to board their scheduled flights.
The AAI stated that it has received multiple requests from affected passengers seeking cancellation and full refund of their air tickets. It noted that the circumstances were unavoidable and beyond the control of the passengers, and that the requests were genuine.
Considering the situation, the AAI strongly recommended that the concerned airlines approve ticket cancellations and grant full refunds as a justified and humanitarian measure.
The communication was issued by Chipemmi Keishing, Airport Director, Imphal International Airport, urging airlines to extend cooperation to passengers affected by the disruption.

The three apex bodies unequivocally call for cessation of all violence and hostilities amongst the Naga brethren, especially NSCN-YA and NSCN-AM, and give peace a chance to navigate the way forward with forgiveness and empathy. We also urge both groups to prioritize shared identity and a secure future over internal rivalries and the assertion of one's supremacy. Despite all differences, collective effort and embracing essential unity remains the only path forward to achieve our common dream.

JOINT PRESS COMMUNIQUE
Moreover, last night, the Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons openly blank-fired a few metres away from where security forces were deployed, thereby creating fear among the public, which led to a wider commotion. We want to question the biased handling of the Central and State security forces. What are the security forces doing when the Kuki militants, fully armed, come out openly on the streets and start firing blank rounds in the open air? On one side, they are trying to control the commotion, yet on the other side, they are giving a free upper hand to Kuki militants. What kind of rule of law is being applied here?
We will not sit and watch. Our patience is growing thin. We will not accept such intimidation by certain anti-social elements on our own land by Kuki armed groups that do not have any right to threaten and intimidate in whatsoever manner. It only triggers us more, and we will take up the necessary course that is deemed fit and necessary to protect our own people and defend our land from illegal immigrants and refugees.

Manipur Govt Suspends Internet in Ukhrul for Five Days
Imphal, Feb 10, 2026: The Government of Manipur on Monday ordered the suspension of internet and data services across Ukhrul district for five days in view of the prevailing volatile law and order situation.
According to an official order issued by the Home Department, the decision was taken following apprehensions that anti-social elements might misuse social media platforms to circulate images, posts, and video messages capable of inciting public emotions and disturbing communal harmony.
The order stated that the transmission of inflammatory content and false rumours through social media, mobile messaging services, SMS, and dongle services could lead to serious disturbances, including loss of life and damage to public and private property.
In exercise of powers under Rule 3 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecommunication Services Rules, 2024, the government directed the suspension and curbing of internet and data services, including broadband, VPN, and VSAT services, in the entire revenue jurisdiction of Ukhrul district for five days.
The suspension came into effect from 11:30 am on February 10, 2026, as a preventive and precautionary measure.
All internet service providers have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order. The government warned that any violation of the order would invite legal action.
The order has been issued ex-parte in view of the emergent situation and will be published for public information through print and electronic media.
Ukhrul District Magistrate Seeks Internet Suspension Amid Tensions
Ukhrul, Feb 10, 2026: The District Magistrate of Ukhrul has formally requested the suspension of internet services across Ukhrul district in view of the prevailing law and order situation.
In a letter addressed to the Commissioner (Home), Government of Manipur, the District Magistrate stated that recent developments in the district have led to significant disturbances posing a threat to public safety and peace.
The letter noted that misinformation and rapid circulation of unverified content through digital platforms could further aggravate tensions and worsen the situation on the ground.
To effectively manage the situation and prevent the spread of rumours, the District Magistrate sought immediate suspension of internet services throughout the district as a temporary preventive measure.
The request was submitted for necessary action in the interest of maintaining public order and ensuring peace in the district.
KOHUR Urges Restraint After Litan–Sareikhong Tension
Lamka, Feb 10, 2026: The Kuki Organization for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) has expressed serious concern over the recent tension that erupted at Litan–Sareikhong, warning against attempts to communalise what it described as an isolated incident.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, KOHUR said initial reports indicate that the situation began as a minor altercation involving a few intoxicated individuals, but later attempts were made to portray it as an ethnic issue between the Tangkhul and Kuki communities.
The organisation strongly appealed to all concerned groups to refrain from spreading inflammatory narratives and urged restraint to prevent the escalation of the situation into a wider ethnic confrontation.
KOHUR called upon both communities to uphold peace, mutual respect, and restraint, reminding that the Tangkhul and Kuki people share a long history of coexistence and a common Christian faith that promotes reconciliation and compassion.
The organisation also expressed disappointment over the reported inaction of central forces and state police personnel present at the spot, alleging that they failed to intervene effectively as tensions escalated.
Stating that security forces have a constitutional duty to act impartially and proactively, KOHUR said any lapse in maintaining public order raises serious concerns about accountability.
KOHUR reiterated that the people of Manipur have already suffered immense hardship due to prolonged conflict and urged responsible leadership, calm public discourse, and immediate administrative vigilance to prevent further escalation.
Liangmai Naga Council Condemns Arson Attacks on Naga Villages
Imphal, Feb 10, 2026: The Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern Zone (LNC-EZ), has strongly condemned what it termed as "barbaric and calculated" arson attacks on Naga villages in Litan area on the night of February 8, 2026.
In a condemnation statement issued on Tuesday, LNC-EZ alleged that the attacks were followed by a targeted incident at around 11:55 pm on February 9, when a group of around 30 youths reportedly set fire to the residence of Shri Azan Abonmai of K. Lungwiram Naga Village under Sapermaina Police Station in Kangpokpi district.
The council described the incidents as a direct challenge to the existence of the Naga people and claimed that they reflect a complete breakdown of law and order in the state.
LNC-EZ warned that if the Government of Manipur and the Ministry of Home Affairs fail to identify, arrest, and prosecute the perpetrators and ensure effective security on the ground, the organisation would be compelled to take appropriate measures within its jurisdiction.
The council also demanded immediate deployment of sufficient security forces and urgent humanitarian relief to protect Naga lives and properties, stating that the government would be fully responsible for any consequences arising from further failure.
