The KSO Samulamlan Block is deeply saddened to hear about the sudden passing of (L) Marina Kholjavei D/o Chonkholun Haokip of Lailampat (Present Address Koite) at District Hospital at around 11:00 AM today.

(L) Marina Kholjavei was the younger sister of Mr. Latkholen Haokip President of Kuki Students' Organisation Samulamlan Block. During this time of grief, the KSO Samulamlan Block extends its deepest condolences and prayers to the bereaved family.

LAMKA: AIRPORT APPEAL COMMITTEE

The Airport Appeal Committee was set up on the 8th of December 2023. Since the beginning of the AAC the committee has been persuing the Government of India to set up an airport in Lamka. The Memorandum to Aviation Ministry was submitted by the Committee twice. The AAC initiated and convened  by Dr.C Thangsing and the committee comprise of good willed and committed members which included the 10 MLAs, Chairman and Secretaries of ITLF, ZU and MTDF. The initial Memmorandum from the CSOs was submitted to Aviation Ministry in December 2023 through Pu V S Naulak and Dr V Haokip and Pu L M Khaute who was spearheading the MLA group Memorandum. Pu LM Khaute continues to pursue on behalf of AAC and the people  the issue with the Aviation Ministry. He continues to spearheaded the lobbying efforts with vigor. 

Today the 19 Feb 2025 he has received a DO letter dated 29-1-2025 from the Hon'ble Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri KR Naidu. The letter highlights the Greenfield Airports Policy 2008, which provides  guidelines, procedure,etc. and suggested for Manipur Govt. proposal for a GA at Lamka to the CA Ministry based on which the Ministry will take up establishment of the Greenfield Airport. Accordingly, he is sending  another proposal to Govt. of Manipur as per suggestion of CA Ministry. Will update soon for collective efforts.LM Khaute expressed gratitude to  Ciivil Aviaty Minister for officially acknowledging the need for an airport in our district.

We laud his commitment and all the members who continuously follow up the same with persistence and determination.

Let's keep up the work with zeal and dedication and see the realization of an airport in Lamka.

ENDORSEMENT PLEDGE OF COTU'S "EIGHT-POINT DECLARATION"

New Delhi,
the 4th of March, 2025

The KSOD & NCR in particular and the Kuki Delhites in general, hereby wholeheartedly endorse and take a pledge to abide by the Declaration Statements of the Committee On Tribal Unity (COTU) dated 3rd of March, 2025 on the 22nd Anniversary of Kuki Martyrs' Remembrance Day held at Phaijang village (Sadar Hills, Northern Kukiland). We stand with COTU and will support the Committee tooth and nail for the furtherance of this declaration and its endeavour to achieve the political aspirations of the Kuki people:
*1. Unwavering Struggle for Separate Administration:* The Kuki-Zo people will
persist until Separate Administration is achieved, with no compromise or surrender.
*2. Restricted Access:* No free movement shall be permitted in Kuki-Zo areas until a resolution that respects the community's aspirations is reached.
*3. Relentless Pursuit:* The fight for Separate Administration will continue through mobilization, protests, and democratic resistance.
*4. Zero Tolerance for Betrayal:* Any individual prioritizing personal interests over the collective cause or aligning with the government will be deemed a traitor.
*5. Retraction of the Governor's Statement:* The Manipur Governor must withdraw
his remarks against Separate Administration, as his engagement with Arambai Tenggol does not dictate the community's future.
*6. No Arrests of Kuki-Zo Volunteers:* Any such action will be met with consequences, and the District Commissioner (DC) and Superintendent of Police (SP) will be held accountable.
*7. Total Resistance Against Forced Peace:* If the government imposes peace without addressing the Kuki-Zo political issue, a complete and irreversible boycott of the ruling government will be enforced.
*8. Final Demand for Union Territory:* The demand for Separate Administration as a Union Territory with Legislature is non-negotiable, with no room for retreat or compromise.

This declaration comes in the backdrop of the Genocidal Campaign that is being unleashed on the Kuki community by *Nongthombam Biren Singh*. Mr. Singh was the Chief Minister of Manipur who had sparked the ongoing ethnic conflict in the state on the 3rd of May, 2023.

On a breezy evening at VRF Turf, Muolvaiphei, the air crackled with excitement as Footgal 3.0 - a 6 Girls A-side night Futsal tournament - began in spectacular fashion. Organized by the District Administration of Churachandpur, this colorful event aims to honor and raise awareness for the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative's ten-year milestone.

The opening ceremony, attended by a full capacity crowd, was graced by Dharun Kumar S, Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, as the Chief Guest, and saw enthusiastic participation from Prakhar Pandey, SP and District Level Officers and students. The event featured the presentation of the BBBP Anthem by local artists and a spectacular choreography display. Additionally, the ceremony included the BBBP Pledge-taking event led by Thangboi Gangte, ADC.

In his address, Dharun Kumar S emphasized the importance of equality and opportunity in all walks of life. He stressed the need to encourage girls in various aspects such as socio-economic, political, education, sports, arts, and other aesthetic pursuits for their holistic growth and to give them a meaningful purpose in life. He added that education helps everyone on tangible grounds by making women financially and emotionally independent.

The District Election Office, in its endeavor to garner support from electors towards accessible and inclusive elections through the purification of electoral rolls, conducted Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign where they explained the process for new registration, correction of details, replacement of EPIC, and who they can contact if they need help.

The tournament's opening match was officially kicked off by the Chief Guest, Dharun Kumar S. The event, featuring 22 teams, is set to continue until March 7, 2025.

Public Voluntarily Surrender Weapons Across Manipur

Imphal, 3rd March 2025: In a significant development, a total of 33 weapons of various types, along with a substantial cache of ammunition and other items, were voluntarily surrendered by the public at different locations across Churachandpur, Thoubal, Imphal East, Imphal West, and Bishnupur districts of Manipur.

Churachandpur District
At Churachandpur Police Station, surrendered items included:

• Two double-barrelled shotguns (Made in India)

• One .303 rifle with a magazine

• One 7.62mm SLR rifle with a magazine

• One M4A4 Carbine (U.S. Government property) with a magazine

• A locally-made stand gun with a magazine

• Various other firearms, live rounds, walkie-talkies, and grenades

Thoubal District
At the 3rd IRB in Khangabok and SP Thoubal, surrendered items comprised:

• A 9mm pistol (Made in Italy) with a magazine

• A locally-made .32 pistol with a magazine

• A double-barrel shotgun (Santokho Gun Works)

• Three hand grenades and a live drone bomb

• A tube launcher, riot shield, body armour plates, camouflage clothing, and other military equipment

Imphal East District
At Heingang Police Station, Porompat Police Station, and Yaingangpokpi Police Station, notable surrendered items included:

• An 81mm mortar bomb

• An SLR rifle with a magazine

• Stun grenades, smoke grenades, and several rounds of ammunition

Imphal West District
At Lamphel Police Station, the surrendered weapons included:

• Two .303 rifles with magazines

• Two locally-made .32 pistols with magazines

• A hand grenade and ammunition

• Five tube-launching devices

Bishnupur District
At Nambol Police Station, the surrendered items featured:

• Two single-barrel shotguns and three double-barrel shotguns

• Thirty cartridges and 50 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition

• Body armour, helmets, walkie-talkies, camouflage clothing, and other tactical gear

Authorities have welcomed this voluntary surrender of arms, viewing it as a positive step towards peace and security in the region. The police have assured that all surrendered weapons and explosives will be securely disposed of as per protocol. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origins of the surrendered items.

Meitei Kuki-Zo Relationship Complex but Cordial: Benjamin Mate

THE relationship between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities in Manipur has been complex but cordial. Historically, the Kuki-Zo people have supported the Meitei community's demands, including their pursuit of full-fledged statehood, the inclusion of the Meitei language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, and the implementation of the Inner Line Permit system in the Meitei Valley.

However, this support has not been reciprocated. The Meitei community has denied the Kuki-Zo people's demands, including their request for the implementation of the 6th Schedule, which would have provided greater autonomy and rights to the tribal population. Furthermore, the Meitei community has blocked the implementation of the Delimitation Act of 2003, which would have resulted in the Kuki-Zo people gaining more assembly seats in the Manipur Assembly.

Recent Developments and Escalating Tensions
The situation has escalated in recent years, with the Meitei community, in collusion with the Manipur Government, perpetrating ethnic violence against the Kuki-Zo people. This has resulted in heinous crimes, including rape, brutality, and humiliation. The Kuki-Zo people are now demanding separate administration, which they believe is the only roadmap for peace between the two communities.

A Way Forward
To resolve the conflict, it is essential that the Meitei community supports the Kuki-Zo people's demand for separate administration. This would require the Meitei community to acknowledge the Kuki-Zo people's rights and autonomy, and to work towards a more inclusive and equitable solution. Ultimately, the only way to achieve lasting peace is for the two communities to live separately as good neighbors, with mutual respect and understanding.
